Fuzzy Jester

A short but busy song with a stuttering problem and a couple of false starts. Recorded in the summer of 1997, when I briefly dropped out of gainful employment to chase musical demons, living in a cottage near Hell, Michigan.

Demonology II

Written in February 2022, around the time of an ice storm. This is theme music for an ice storm bad enough to keep you home, but not so bad that the power is out for days, and you can't play guitar for lack of circulation to your fingers.

Tour De Freeze - An Icicle Ride

This is a semi-Celtic (Irish-ish?) tune that celebrates the malfunctioning plumbing of my aging home. It has everything: multiple keyboards, multiple guitars, multiple bass guitars, drums, tambourine, vibraslap, water noises... Everything but the kitchen sink - because the plumbing is broken, remember?

A collage of musical doodles that largely originated on the computer using MuseScore, a sheet music editor/playback application. This has mostly real instrument performances based on the doodles, but includes some of the computer-performed tracks.

Chicken Doodle Soup

A song about The Most Interesting Man in the Tri-County Area. Mr. Legendary-ish is just like you and me, except 17.3 percent more awesome at everything.

Mr. Legendary - Ish

The original working title of this song was "Guitar Thing: 12-27-2020". I needed something better than that for the final title, so I declared December 27 to be "Attic Day". It's the day after Boxing Day (December 26), which is the day after Christmas (December 25), which is the day after Christmas Eve (December 24.) Attic Day is the day where you put all the boxes that you boxed up on Boxing Day up in the attic.

This song came together close to the autumn equinox of 2021. I'm never sure of the dates of these events, so I call it an Approximinox. This song works for the springtime one, too. The same mood of weary resignation applies equally to going into fall and coming out of winter. Approximately equal, that is.

This is an Impromptosition - an impromptu composition recorded without a plan in advance. See soundcloud.com/terrymci/sets/impromptositions-2005-14 for more of those. On this one, other than the main 11/16 parts, the time signature was whatever my hands decided to do as I played the drums. I think I was using made-up numbers like "nothingteen" and "thirtysomething". If this was a math test, the teacher would write "see me after class".

This ended up being a collision of techno, country and new age styles. The insurance companies involved will be sorting this out for a while.

Trigger Samples And The Sidechain Kid Ride Again Into The Electronic Twilight

A sound collage made from sound samples generated by C++ code I wrote to make WAV files. I use the sample index as the input variable into arbitrary math formulas that I fiddled with until something sounded interesting. The raw samples had effects applied in audio software and were then glued together into this "song".
