The Århus-born beatsmith extraordinaire Terry Tester's career behind the decks and MPC spans nearly two decades almost solely spent within the world of hiphop. After an unintentional kebab lunch, an immediate musical connection was sparked between the label owner of Copenhagen Underground Posse and Terry, who then dived head first into house music - and what a result! Having made his label-debut with the raw, bass-heavy roller 'Change Up' included on the V/A 'Liderlige Rytmer Del 2 af 3", Terry now returns to C.U.P. with the EP 'Genealogia', showcasing his unique style of tape drum tracks, warm subby bottom ends and spacey funk melodies.

Terry Tester first surfaced in the 00's as scratch DJ for local rap legend MC Einar as well as producer and MPC-badman for several acclaimed Danish hiphop projects. As a solo beatmaker, his works of imminent soulful, boogie and jazz-influenced beats has landed him production credits for Jahi & Dwele, BBE, Brownswood Recordings, a remix commission from Marc Mac for the Visioneers project (alongside heavyweights such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Denz), and most recently a neck-snapping debut album 'Horses and Diamonds' (2012) and follow-up 'Short Suite' (2013) on Mixed Ape Music.

Copenhagen Underground Posse (C.U.P.) is a vinyl label and music family based in Copenhagen, Denmark, dedicated to showing the world what the scene up North is about.

Copenhagen’s Terry Tester (@terrytester) (Brownswood / BBE) merges his love for Midwest House and Cosmic Funk on his latest four-tracker "Space Million” for Creak Inc. Here on the A1, 'Zaw' is a jacked up and heavily swung cosmic glide which perfectly bridges Terry Tester's influences for the EP. Besides working in a party atmosphere, this could also fit coming out of the car radio while cruising top-down in the summer sun. 

Within Terry Tester’s two-decade long career as a turntablist and beatmaker his eminent take on House, Hip Hop and Soul has been commissioned by Gilles Petterson for his ‘Bubblers’ compilation series on Brownswood Recordings, Jahi featuring the legendary Neo-Soul singer Dwele, and Marc Mac (4Hero, Visioneers, Nu Era) on BBE remixing alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, as well as releasing two full-length solo albums "Horses  and Diamonds" and "Short Suite".

One in a million.

One half of acclaimed duo The Works which he formed with friend and fellow producer Twelve Beats to release the Yokohama EP (Rust Music) in 2009.

Has been involved in the production of several projects including Danish outfits Vincent Van Go Go and Nobody Beats The Beats.

Was commissioned in 2006 by Marc Mac to submit a remix for the Visioneers' Dirty Old Remixes (BBE) appearing alongside heavyweights such as Dj Jazzy Jeff and Capitol A.

In recent years his work has featured on mixtapes and compilations courtesy of Earnest Endeavours, Brownswood Recordings and First Word Records.

2012 saw the release of his first ever solo project Horses & Diamonds; the 11 track strong largely instrumental hiphop EP on Danish rapper Per Vers' imprint Mixed Ape Music. The EP featured cover artwork by Tokio Aoyama.

In 2013 his follow up project Short Suite dropped on that same label.

A 45 of left-overs from the Horses & Diamonds and Short Suite sessions surfaced via Pasteelo Records in 2022.

Since 2015 Terry has gravitated towards the world of house music releasing five projects clocking in at around the 120bpm mark; Genealogia (Copenhagen Underground Posse, 2016), Space Million (Creak Inc., 2018), Breeze Unlimited (Boogie Café Records, 2021), Space Million RMXs (Creak Inc, 2023) and Walkin' (Creak Inc., 2023)

Terry's latest outings has yielded spins from influential selectors such as Soulection, Carista, Alexander Nut (NTS), Mr. Beatnick (NTS), Marina Trench, EVM 128, James Rudie, Sassy J (Red Light Radio) and FS Green.
