Few DJs can claim to have had such a lasting impact as Daniele Baldelli. Throughout the ’70s and into the ’80s he was an instrumental figure in the development of the curious Italian sound known as Afro/cosmic music, or “cosmic disco” as it’s known today.

His residencies at Italy’s Baia Degli Angeli and Cosmic clubs are the stuff of dance music legend, and mixtapes of his wild multi-genre sets are still poured over by eager fans and internet trainspotters alike. His unique techniques and off-the-wall selections continue to be employed by adventurous DJs working the international circuit to this day.

Pianeti Sintetici ('synthetic planets' in Italian) is a new conceptual project by Davide Perrone (Primal Code) that draws inspiration from the factories of Magrathea, a planet in Douglas Adams' classic space opera The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where artificial planets are manufactured on commission.

“This concept has always fascinated me, and I chose the name to frame a hypothetical future of synthetic worlds, told with sound,' Davide says. 'I like to imagine the howls of creatures inhabiting solar systems outside our own. Rarefied atmospheres, alien sequences, and unfamiliar tonal scales. So, I see Pianeti Sintetici as an open-ended design research project where I can explore these inspirations.”

Pianeti Sintetici already has three stand out releases on the legendary Hypnus records and has played a string of mind bending shows, including this mix, which is a live set from the 2023 edition of Positive Education. The more we listen to Nosedrip’s last Room 01 adventure, the more we fall in love with it. Part of his all-nighter at Fuse and with a constant air of reflective and introspective touches, the Belgian leftfield treasure is doing justice to his reputation of never being predictable.

From vocals to etheric percussions, set-backed oddballs, or acid and Arabic sound textures, the Stroom.tv founder is drawing a resourceful example of his musical DNA. A spiritual ascension, guided by Ziggy Devriendt’s intuitions for two hours long.

It's time to share the second beautiful episode of our SoundSculptors series with you. We invited the Zurich based artist live ensemble @regula-rec and chose their wonderful journey which they played in September 2023 for the @iorecs night at Kauz, Zurich. Their sound aesthetics are absolutely unique and precisely designed. Full of spicy grooves, filigree atmospheres and beautiful synth lines. 🎹 🎛️
The set was not recorded from the first second, around fifty minutes are missing. But the remaining 2 hours are so fantastic that we definitely wanted to share this with you 🌹

28th vurt podcast is a one-hour set of Ario, a curator of Astral Industries in London and currently based in Seoul. Since his first visit to vurt in 2018 as an ambient specialist, Ario has moved to Seoul last year and sharing his deep sounds and thoughts with Seoul friends. We're happy to share Ario's techno mix which inspired by his special experiences in Seoul over the past few years, on the last day of the lunar 2020 through vurt podcast.

With origins linking back to Iran, London-born and Seoul-based Ario is a practitioner of deep and inquisitive music - both as a DJ and label curator of Astral Industries. Although his remit falls within the deeper shades of electronic music, his overall aesthetic draws on a broader spectrum that prizes the synthesis of both instrumental and electronic disciplines. Depending on context, he traverses the lines and forms between ambient, experimental and heavier, club-ready styles. What is common between these worlds, however, is his alchemic handling of rich organicism mixed with darker, more austere sounds. Speaking with an emotive sensitivity, there is a certain self-awareness that permeates his crafted soundscapes, which are as much drone-inspired as they are psychedelic and nature-driven.
