'Marble' was produced in 1997 by a guy from Amsterdam. It became known years after, when it was included in a keygen software for Ableton Live. The author himself found out about this fact just a couple of years ago.
The track was available to anyone on Mod Archive, yet still we felt there was a reason it should appear on CRUISE compilation as it reflects the spirit of the time we all cherish and try to recreate at our parties.
We've reached the author and asked whether he'd like to release this track officially. We found out Hans was only 15 when he wrote 'Marble'. Not only he gave us his blessing, but also did a new mixdown of the track for CRUISE tape, almost 25 years later!

CRUISE is a Moscow-based night that focuses on 90s finest — old school hip-hop, garage house, breakbeat hardcore and jungle. Every once in a while local vinyl enthusiasts, artists and radio hosts from Wax Ninja crew (Artem Xio, Foxxylove and MB4) and Tiger Balms crew (Skye, Fine) gather nostalgic music lovers so that they can cruise through different BPMs and genres in a home-like atmosphere.

This release is the essence of CRUISE captured on tape: 15 tracks from the crème de la crème of the Russian underground scene. A full-scale journey into the sound of drum machines, analog synths, obscure samples and what not; a heart-warming homage to music from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, London, Manchester, Essex, Bristol and different cities across Italy.

N-Tone, Maxi Skratch and Luge are there with their beats and scratches; HI TOP and Osipenko Bus Stop (Ant To Be when he makes jungle) deliver some proper UKG; Keroz and DJ 0000 (DJ 1985’s alter ego) are going deep and melodic; Cream Soda, BRTS, Scruscru & S.Timoshenko and Heavy Blunt fill this tape with house bangers; Artem Xio, Mix Master Kutyma, FTRRLT alongside Amsterdam native Reactor Grits do breakbeat and drum’n’bass. And don’t forget about the funny skits that turn this compilation into an 90s style album that tells a story.

The first single «Нечто» ('Something') is about acceptance of fear and its influence. The envelopment of darkness is unstoppable until there comes the realization that everyone is both part of the light and part of the darkness at the same time. «Нечто» is epicenter of life, where lines of light and darkness meet.

This number fifteen episode was recorded by lutin, whom you may know from our broadcastes and her "gradual change of pleasure" EP that was released on our label in April and has been provided on streamings recently. Nika Maurer – her name in real life – is an independent Russian electronic musician creating music in different genres. Her two main projects are lutin — weird dub experimental electronica and Lost Helmet — raw post-industrial sound with broken rhythms. In this mix she combined the sound of both projects. On that note we leave you with the mix and recommend to keep an eye on her music activity.

In 28 songs and more than two hours of music ”I Am Here Now, When Will You Be Here Again?” presents a multitude of expressions. An empty holiday retreat, a portrait of a season’s end. Echoes of emotion, laughter in the background, someone cried here too. Sandalwood scent or patchouli, rain pools gathering on the piled up daybeds, it is colder now. If the storm comes, i’ll let myself get carried away too. I am here now, when will you be here again? 

The compilation is presented digitally and as a limited set of cassettes out late October “I Am Here Now, When Will You Be Here Again?” is the newest addition to a lineage of Posh Isolation compilations. Sung in voices of today it echoes a past cry;

Ulyap is a village in the Caucasus, where one can find an enormous number of accordion and harmonica players. “Ulyap Songs:  Beyond Circassian Tradition” represents an attempt to document ancient bards‘ chants and their entanglement with popular rural heritage as well as Soviet culture during modern times, through a critical prism. Interacting with a rich book on the subject, this issue reflects on a music phenomenon involving talented female and male musicians, performing in lively (and sometimes festive) social dynamics. It does so by revealing important songs of the repertoire on the one hand, inviting original artists to experiment with Ulyap songs on the other.

In 2021, Flee Project met with Nalchik-based music journalist Bulat Khalilov. The music enthusiast kept on speaking about a fascinating vernacular musical genre from the North Caucasus, involving a lot of heavy drinking and which had absorbed urban elements of petit-criminal as well as Gulag-returnees’ chanson. A few months after this encounter, the FLEE collective traveled across the Caucasus to interview and record local toughies, wedding musicians, bards and researchers to make sense of this peculiar folklore. The expedition culminated in the visit of Ulyap, a tiny village home to many virtuoso accordion players that gave its name to this festive music tradition. Three years later, forced to readapt the project to the many issues and challenges that the war in Ukraine has brought up, the art collective finally publishes a book, including essays, artworks, and unpublished pictures depicting the colors of life in this forgotten (post)soviet underworld. The book encompasses the contributions of: Lina Tsrimova, Bulat Khalilov, Madina Pashtova, Milana Khalilova, Nikita Rasskazov, Almagul Menlibayeva, Akhmat Bikanov, Olivier Duport, Alan Marzo.

Musically, the double LP conists of rare and unpublished archives as well as recordings made by FLEE, Ored recordings and Nikita Rasskazov over the last years in various locations of the Caucasus. These original celebration and drinking songs performed by group of professional and amateur musicians alike have been used as a creative fabric by sonic sound artists and musicians: Zongamin, Misha Sultan, Emmanuelle Parrenin & Colin Johnco, Simone Aubert, Valentina Goncharova, Minami Deutsch, G.A.M.S. & Vatannar, Jrpjej & Ben Wheeler.

The transmedia object comprehends of an LP and book in an innovative packaging made out of traditionnal wool. FLEE 005 will be officially released January the 19th of 2024, with launches around the world and followed by a traveling exhibition.

The cassette "clay tablets" was produced by the resident of the radio Thelonious Bong, the author of the program "The Evening Bong", which some of you may remember thanks to the beautiful artworks and music.

The album includes 10 tracks collected around some metaphysical images in art — Andrey refers to the movies of Stanley Kubrick and Andrei Tarkovsky and very clearly describes his feelings from the references as "longing for the immense and mysterious and a huge interest that grows into desire to speak out."

This desire, familiar to many people, was sublimated into atmospheric and cinematic music, recorded in a happy period, when the consciousness is pure, and creativity is given easily and naturally.

The title of the album refers to the era when people were just learning to write and sharing the most basic messages with each other through the simple drawings on clay — without losing the sense behind the form.  Simplicity and reality as it is is the world that the author of the release got into while writing the album, and the world that is easy to get into as a listener as well.

Recorded with Roland SP-404SX, Critter & Guitari Organelle, guitar and bass.  If you listen carefully, you will hear Vangelis and Eduard Artemyev are sitting by the fire and writing their new soundtrack to Stalker.

"I have always loved the unfamiliar places. I was once in a desert, it made a deep impression on me. When I started my solo project and got down to the album, I decided to create a soundtrack about a lost oasis city called Zerzura. The legend goes that once upon a time a camel rider lost his camel in a desert and while searching for it, he got lost himself. Tall people with fair hair and blue eyes found him and brought him to an oasis city. A city as white as a dove, guarded by black giants, abound with unusual birds, plants and springs, a queen and a king. No one knows what had happened in between, only that the camel rider ran away stealing the royal’s ring.
