A nearly-complete recording of my solo set for Wildt in Prague, held on a warm-as-summer May Sunday, that was very special for me. Coming off a rolling high from playing a much harder club set the night before, this was more beat-driven than usual, but squeezes in plenty of ambient gold and classic summer cuts to travel between BPM and mood. 

One for rocking about the house on a warm day, or small parties in the summer sunshine. <3 to all who danced with me through to the closing, SKRSINTL 4eva...

Ian's work was unknown to me prior to him sending me over his mix, but a further look into his page and profile has uncovered some

"My musical foundations are rooted in AC/DC, Sabbath and Metallica and give rise to a love of 4/4 rhythm and the riff. From here they veered into where worlds collide – Pink Floyd met the Orb in a student dive and a love of electronica was born, encompassing pioneers such as Orbital, Leftfield et al through to UK D&B, taking in Kruder & Dorfmeister and the dub scene along the way.
The love affair however ended in the early nineties, I wasn’t feeling anything from electronica any more, but I knew the music I could hear in my mind must be out there - somewhere. My musical imaginations seemed to put all of the above aspects in place and was only discovered pre pandemic in the form of deep techno. This discovery so rekindled my love and excitement that I took the plunge into DJing - I wanted to take the music internally heard and create mixes to ease back to and soothe the soul. Voila. I hope you all get the same level of enjoyment from this mix, as I had creating it." - Morian.

Petersburg recluse Vladimir Karpov is an electronic musician and producer under the pseudonym X.Y.R. Many of his works are able to tune in to a meditative mood, and to completely immerse a sensitive listener in a state of hypnosis.

More than ten years ago Vladimir got his first synthesizer - the Soviet "formant", from which his musical career began. In his work, he prefers soft timbres, wavy ambient and the pacifying mystery of the New Age, and his track record, for example, includes releases on the California label Not Not Fun or the Oakland Constellation Tatsu.

Karpov's synthesizer melodies are distorted in a mirage landscape, and the enveloping vibrations emanating from all guitar gadgets twist like snakes in the air. Unsurprisingly, the abbreviation X.Y.R. stands for the Temple of Solitary Reflection - this is how the hero of "Dead Souls" landowner Manilov calls the homeless pavilion in which he indulges in lonely dreams. Likewise, the music of the Petersburg recluse, inspiring, soothing, and sometimes disturbing, has a solitary character.

This mix was recorded at Ahola Festival in 2021.

The producer from Kaliningrad gets deep into different genres, recreating or using instruments not in accordance with their original purposes.
