Its been 6 years since Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble first emerged on the scene with his debut 12inch released on his own MCDE Recordings imprint.
Appropriately titled "Raw Cuts", the two tracks would start of a series of raw house jams Danilo made in his studio using old school samplers and drum machines,
a sound that at the time was far away from being status quo.
Having been heavily influenced by Soul, Jazz, House and Techno emerging from both the Motor City and beyond, Danilo found his signature sound - sample-based, raw,
emotional and mature tracks.
MCDE released two more "Raw Cuts" twelve inches in the coming years and it wouldn't be wrong to call them modern house classics - each of the records found support from all over the globe, from Moodymann to Gilles Peterson, and especially the last record of the series (Raw Cuts 5 & 6) was just everywhere in the year 2010.

What better way to end a concept series than to invite some people for remixing those tracks? People that inspired him to do this music in the first place:
Marcellus Pittman of 3 Chairs fame, Mike Huckaby, one of Detroit`s house heroes and synth nerd per excellence, plus lastly Recloose, whose unique approach to the Detroit sound has been a favorite of Danilo for years.

With a package this strong we will not bore you with more praise - just listen and enjoy.

We don’t often invite people to run the FACT Mix gauntlet more than once – but if anyone gets to bend the rules, it’s Klock.

The Berlin titan last graced these parts back in 2009, filing a muscular FACT Mix entirely in keeping with his reputation as Berghain’s bosher-in-chief. The last five years have seen him consolidate his reputation as a standard bearer of refined, take-no-prisoners techno; his eight-hour-plus sets continue to shake Berghain’s foundations, and, although his output has slowed substantially, he’s still found time to knock out the occasional release on Ostgut Ton. His Klockworks label continues to tick along, too - new releases from fellow FACT mixer Trevino and Etapp Kyle are imminent, plus, if a forthcoming stint of “studio time” comes good, potentially more new music from Klock himself.

Those expecting pulverising 4×4 might be surprised by Klock’s sophomore FACT mix – a “deeper, dreamy” collection, bookended by two vintage ambient tracks and shot through with wonder. Unreleased Klockworks material features, as do cuts from the likes of Function, Ben Sims, Surgeon, Orgue Electronique and Lucy. The mix is a studio-recorded affair – something Klock sees as a very different kettle of fish to playing out: “Club mixes are obviously more spontaneous and capture the vibe of a specific night, while working in the studio offers other possibilities like re-editing tracks and layering tunes more precisely, which I’ve done a lot of that here.” Set your watches…

In just a week’s time we’re set to host the launch party for Forms – our new event series that’s set to bring a bold set of house, techno, disco sounds to Friday nights in EC1. Among the wealth of talents joining Skream for the launch party (and also in fact the launch of his seriously good FABRICLIVE 97 album) on 19th January are Kincaid & Sinàl, the breaking production duo based in London.

Supported by a host of DJs including Skream on his aforementioned album, Kincaid & Sinàl’s music takes in the sound of Africa via Ibizan sunsets. Ahead of their debut with us next weekend, they dropped us over a mix to introduce this world-spanning sound. Covering some of the pair’s recent productions alongside Farringdon favourites Edward and SW., it’s a tribal-leaning blend of house cuts made with the weekend in mind.
