After a string of heavy-hitting techno missiles, the Tete imprint returns in 2016 with its third release to date, a three - tracker built by the label's boss, Gianmaria Coccoluto. The young Italian producer steps into the limelight, and challenges the Berlin school with the "Dance Corporation", a hypnotic sound massage that is carried by a 4/4 tempo, but delivers much more than that thanks to its intricate bundles of melodies, and a subtly tribal stance. Instead, "Sonic Massage" sees Coccoluto heading to more soulful territories, coming out with a sublime house stepper packed with mystical samples and broken shreds of percussion. Similarly, "Tetape" sticks close to the house framework, but the tune goes way beyond the usual brand of deep house, and gives the listener a much deeper, more wide-eyed experience. It's another clear development in GC's production skills, and it's a highly recommended EP to all house and techno heads.

"Run by Gianmaria Coccoluto and based in Cassino - TÉTE is the sub label of Italian House institute The Dub. Forged in 2015, the intention of the imprint is to prioritise - above all else - creativity and freedom of expression and has so far remained an outlet for the sonically intrepid productions of the label owner himself. 

For the 4th release, TÉTE present Gianmaria Coccoluto’s ‘The Smooth Dance’ EP - a stormy and experimental 12” that comes backed up with a remix from legendary producer, artist and printmaker - the New York based Mike Parker.

The title track kicks things off with live, patterning percussion and dramatic synth sweeps. Bold, acidic tones and a stoney kick drum push progress as the track churns towards its conclusions. The original mix of ‘Aneles1871’ then follows up with deft sound design that is utilised to build dense percussion and thick, gloomy textures into a cold and uncompromising warehouse jam.

Mike Parker then adds to a catalogue that reaches way back to 1997 with a simple but highly effective take on the original. His minimal revision is propelled by a seismic kick drum and small, subtle alterations as paint-stripping lasers cap off another solid addition to the TÉTE catalogue".
