Major Lazer’s Get Free is one of our favorite songs of the year. It blew up almost instantaneously, so it was no surprise that J. Cole wanted to spit hot fire over it. What is surprising is how long it took. There have been thousands upon thousands of remixes of this song. I attribute it’s recent move into the hip-hop genre to our boy Snoop Lion. Snoop has recently paired up with Diplo to lay down an album and Diplo is the main collaborator of Major Lazer. As we’ve spoken about before, Diplo is getting valuable recognition in the industry and even just worked with No Doubt. Carolina MC J. Cole calls this one Get Free ColeWorld, a great track consisting of motivational instrumental work and lyrics from Cole as well as a high-lifting chorus. The man truly speaks nothing but the absolute truth. I don’t know why in the lord’s name Diggy Simmons keeps trying to beef with Cole, maybe they should settle this through a club fight with bottles thrown and law suits accompanying them.
