This song sets the scene for the entire project.  In the opening bars Tex vividly describes that  he is..."from where the streets cracked and they keep crack"  Yet this song is not about the fruits of hustling.  This song is only giving you a mental picture of what living in an "open-air" prison is looks like. 

01 - Live from Behind BARS

Doesn't everyone want to be a shotcaller? until the feds get involved.  On this track, Tex  discusses the darkside of the hustle.  He talks about how..."foolish pride was my true demise"..and he warns that we only have the moment..."cuz you can't go back/not in the physical/you can in the mental/u temp to do u a lose ya mind"  This track speaks to the heart of the ghetto and everyone that has not quite leaned to live with regrets.  

02 - Shot Caller

This is one of those tracks you just want to lay back with your eyes closed and allow the melody and Tex's voice to take you through his conjured thoughts.  With "love" as a part of its melody, this song is like musical brain-food.

07 - Conjured Thoughts

Tex was able to produce a miracle with a guest appearance (the only feature on the entire project) Stephani "Spark" Parker (S/O).  She blew the vocals of god into the track.  Puts me in the mindset of Jay-Z and Mary circa '95.  Clearly, being the Message was the realest shit he ever did!

08 - Message Music feat SPark (Duke)

"I know niggas who ain't never even left they hood/now tell me that ain't locked up nigga" This is the opening line in the second verse. This is the song that tells the story of this entire project. We made this project to bring awareness to Charles "Duke" Tanner. Duke is a political prisoner; a first-time offender, he was sentenced to double LIFE in a federal prison. A good man and father, Duke's story and wrongful conviction has fueled this movement. Listen as Duke tells you just what freedom is and what it means to him.
