Heart Throb is one of the deeper cuts from Inner Space Odyssey. It starts out as a pretty up beat synth pop track and then shifts into more of a somber electronic shoegaze-y thing. It's a reflective track that looks at the end of a relationship from 2 separate mood extremes. This one's got a bit of everything: synths, delayed guitars, bass guitar, field recordings, and hooky vocals.

A slinky electronic track that turns into a fuzzed out guitar explosion that is from the perspective of an introvert living in an extroverted world. A healthy expression of frustration.

In This Too Shall Pass, the theme of rebirth takes it's most literal form - that of decay and decomposition feeding the next stage of life. This song started out as challenge to write a secular love song, but ended up as a biological love poem that espouses the inter-connectivity of all things from life to love to death and back again.

'Theft of the Sky' is more than just an industrial dance groove with fuzzy guitars - it's a no holds barred scathing indictment of our current political / business leaders obsession with the all mighty dollar over every single other thing. It was inspired by Naomi Klein’s book “This Changes Everything”, and was originally born as I was sitting on the shore of a remote mountain lake staring across at large, ugly clear cuts under the light of a full moon.

The lyric “What a cheap trick to use tradition as a reason not to change” could be classified as an ethos that I live my life under - and one that seems to be what all discussions I have with someone on the far right boil down to. 

Theft of the Sky is also a dance floor destroyer live, go figure.

A synth laden, sub touching, indie dance track with lyrics that are loosely inspired by Pema Chodron's philosophy of "leaning in to the sharp points” in times of difficulty. The acid line that shows up at the halfway point however, may encourage you to dance your cares away instead.

A Life Lived

‘Compassion Pit’ is the lead single from the 3rd Texture & Light LP 'Vulture Medicine', and it perfectly embodies what the music of Texture & Light stands for - it is both heavy and light, fit for dancing and for daydreaming. 

Ocean waves give way to weird and wonderful melodic synth lines and analog drum machine beats that invite the listener’s body to sway like care-free seaweed in the tide, while the lyrics paint a story of depth, feeling, pain, and hope. Hazy guitar lines round out the sonic spectrum, providing an anchor in this sea of electronic dreams.
