After a year of work, the final boss track of my D&D campaign is finally done!!! 01 - The Lullaby Of Love

Here's something I've been working on for quite a while: A theme for my No Straight Roads fan boss! Introducing, Ophelia! A choral singer who fights with all the force of a thunderstorm, she calls up faceless, shadowy singers in order to back her up both on vocals and on the battlefield. Having just barely gained approval during her audition in front of the artists of No Straight Roads, the stage on which she performs is only half finished, and she does not actually have power there... Yet despite this, Mayday and Zuke are more than ready to cause some mayhem for the stormy singer! Despite her skill, Ophelia makes music for all the wrong reasons, using it as a way to run away, deflect, and escape from her past.

I LOVE No Straight Roads, and I couldn't resist trying to put myself to the test of making my very own song and character concept. It's even my first time trying to do EDM, so I hope I was able to pull it off and blend it both with Ophelia's choral stylings and a touch of rock! Been a while since I reached for those real high notes too. I'm quite happy with them!

Vs Ophelia (No Straight Roads Fanboss Theme)

This is my original acapella arrangement of "Sora" from The Vision of Escaflowne! Ever since the first time I heard this song, I just thought it was too beautiful, and I always wanted to cover it--and now, I have! First half is with main vocals, second is the "instrumental". It features what I consider to be my signature cascading vocals around the bridge, and I'm quite proud of it. I hope you like it too!

This is my original acapella arrangement of "Anarchy Rainbow" from the upcoming Splatoon 3! Vocals done by me (Teza Belmond), with my beloved friends acting as the inkling background vocals in the chorus! I hope you enjoy it :D First half has the main vocals, second half showcases just the "instrumental"!

You know, I'd never been a Splatoon fan before this, but the second I heard Anarchy Rainbow, I was completely mesmerized by it. It's such a cool song with so many influences, and I LOVE it! So I started working on a cover right away--the game wasn't out yet at the time of me making/posting this, so I had to work very hard to try and hear all the little nuances of the chord progressions and stuff through the posts of the song that ARE on YouTube, and I don't think I did half bad! My main references were the song itself that was posted on Nintendo's channel, and the instrumental version that could be heard faintly in the background of Deep Cut's first Splatfest announcement!

I had a really fun time trying to match the vocal filter, and while it may not be perfect, I'd say I didn't do too bad! The rendering of the lyrics is also my best interpretation of them, and it's mainly based on and read like Japanese syllabary would be. I extended a few vowels, like 'huu's and 'shii's and all of that, and it's possible that many of the 'l's could be 'r's and vice versa, and same with 'k's versus 'g's. Still, I think they're parsable, so if you want to sing along, you can! Here they are:

Anarchy Rainbow ~ Acapella Cover

This is my original acapella arrangement of "GOD RACE" by METAROOM, a song featured in Joel G's Ena series! Ena is how I found Metaroom's music in the first place, and thanks to that, I'm totally hooked now--but this song in particular will always have a special place for me. I just think it's so cool! It was really fun for me to try and find a way to match the intensity and feelings of the original with vocals only. I hope you like it too!

(Pssst, since you read this far I'll tell you the secret of how I did the percussion: A pair of chopsticks tapping on a potlid and me punching a book!)

This is my original acapella arrangement of "Locus" (aka one of the Alexander boss themes) from FFXIV! Vocals by me (Teza Belmond)! With this being a very technology-based theme, it was fun to try and convert it into something exclusively vocal. Fun fact: The percussion was made by me slapping my computer's shell (perhaps not the best idea, but thematic) and a little egg shaker I had around. I hope you enjoy this acapella! It took me quite some time, and I'm super excited to finally release it to you :D First half has the main vocals, second half showcases just the "instrumental"!

Locus ~ FFXIV(Alexander Boss Theme) Acapella cover

Here's my original acapella arrangement of "Fleeting Words ~ Family", from NieR Replicant! Vocals by Teza Belmond (me!) I wanted to do something a little different from the original version and try to give it a more... maybe siren song-ish feel, given where and how it plays in game. In the second half, I took away the main vocals to reflect the absence of Louise, and as a result you can hear where I converted the background chorus from the "Outsider" version of the song to match the style of this one. This is such a beautiful song, and I hope I did it justice! Louise's story and all the NPCs that tied into it made me cry...

Fleeting Words ~ Family (Acapella Cover)

An old song off of my old album from many years ago, The Sound of a New World. From the album notes: 
One of my very favorite composers in the world is Steve Reich, which you might not have guessed! Fascinated by his approach to music, I wanted to make this track as a sort of love letter to his work - combining my own approach to music and vocals with his. It stands out from my other pieces, I think, in its dissonance and the repetitive nature of the vocals…and the ending as well was something that I drew from my very favorite piece of Reich's, "Eight Lines." Creating a piece that builds upon itself, rising slowly and coming to a crescendo of vocals and strings, and then allowing it to end without truly ending…it was a new experience for me.

I did an English cover of "Forces" by Susumu Hirasawa! I really really love his work, it's so unique and interesting to listen to. What better way to pay tribute than by singing one of his songs? I also tried my hand at English lyrics. This also ended up being a tribute to Kentaro Miura after his passing. Rest in peace, and thank you for your beautiful work.

This is the opening of Paranoia Agent, and I thought it would be interesting to cover the opening in the style of the ending--intentionally giving it a more sleepy and gentle feeling as opposed to its original version. It was a fun challenge to take the unsettling feeling of the opening and change it into this. I hope you enjoy it too!
