Mosquito Project - Own The Light [th3-v0rt3x remix]

I uploaded this track last year as a private track as I was trying to get buy in from One Little Indian ,who still own the rights to the track even though The Shamen are now managed by Moksha. Moksha were very helpful in pointing me in the direction of OLI and even fave'd the track (yay!) Unforunately I have not heard a peep from them, so I have made it public with download disabled. It does mean that the original description below in not to valid anymore so please read it as if it were last year.

Having rediscovered my Progen91 - Maxi CD Single [14trax - 16 samples & Beats] (Original £7.99 till recepit still in the CD inlay) I realised that it is 20 years since this monster was originally released but also since the tragic and untimely death of Will Sinnott.

I decided to create this remix primarily to honour and remember Will but also try and reawaken this giant of electronica. It has layed dormant for far too long and really needs this generation to realise there is a whole lot more to electronica than DnB and heavy dubstep (blah!).

My interpretation of this monster is more ambient and chilled out than the original but in a way that (I hope) remains true to the original.

The Shamen - Move Any Mountain [Remixed through th3-v0rt3x]

This track is my entry into the OraMIX Science museum competition.
The competition is now closed, thanks to all those who voted for me.

The track is composed from a combination of the stems supplied and various VSTi's and FX.
The dominant feature of the track is intended to be the monster beat which I took from the original stem set.
The massive, booming sound and slow tempo of the beat is intended to represent some kind of sonic giant stomping across a strange and desolate audio landscape.

For those who are interested and unfamiliar with Daphne Oram: (Courtesy of wikipedia)
"Daphne Oram (31 December 1925 – 5 January 2003) was a British composer and electronic musician. She was the creator of the "Oramics" technique for creating electronic sounds.

In 1959 she installed her Oramics Studios for Electronic Composition in Tower Folly, 
a converted oast house at Fairseat, near Wrotham, Kent.  Her output from the studio, mostly commercial, covered a far wider range than the Radiophonic Workshop, 
providing background music for not only radio and television but also theatre and short commercial films.

Besides being a musical innovator her other significant achievements include:
1) Being the first woman to direct an electronic music studio,
2) The first woman to set up a personal studio and 
3) The first woman to design and construct an electronic musical instrument."

In terms of the track title, (again from wikipedia) "in Classical Antiquity, an oracle was a person or agency considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic predictions or precognition of the future." From what I have read, I believe she was well ahead of her time and a true pioneer.

th3-v0rt3x - Oram's Oracle [OraMIX Competition Entry]

Inspired by photos and videos from a work mates holiday whale watching, this is my lateset track: Infinite Oceanic Expanse. I have always wanted to have a play with acid synths and this really presented me with an opportunity to try some out. As always, it starts out chilled and goes a but tripppy before bringing you back down to earth.

DJ Pete Farmer - What I Need [Remixed through th3-v0rt3x]: Release Date: 01/10/2012

Inspired by the fun and excitement my kids had recently on Bonfire night, this is my latest original track. 
It is intended to have a fun and uplifting vibe to represent the source of inspiration and I had real fun making it. 
The icing on the cake was when I found the closing field recording. 
Although I have managed to make it sound like the track ends at a live event, the crowd are actually cheering at the fireworks 8).

One day though...... (We can all dream)

Quidgybopper - Void (feat. Matchboxhero) [th3-v0rt3x Remix]

This is the radio edit of my original track called Delta Waves. It is a lot shorter than the original and has no outro. I have created this in the hope that BBC Introducing may like it enough to play it on local radio. That's the plan anyway. "A delta wave is a high amplitude brain wave with a frequency of oscillation between 0–4 hertz. Delta waves, like other brain waves, are recorded with an electroencephalogram[1] (EEG) and are usually associated with the deepest stages of sleep (3 NREM), also known as slow-wave sleep (SWS), and aid in characterizing the depth of sleep."

"If life is but a dream then make sure it's a happy one....." 
It all started many years ago at University with an Amiga, a copy of Protracker and a hardware sampler. With influences including The Orb, The Shamen, The Prodigy and everything electronic in between hopefully you'll find something in here that you like. All of the photos on the artwork are either sunsets or the sun rising in places I've visited or near where I live. The idea behind it all is supposed to be that (in my head anyway) my sounds take me to a place of tranquility and peace. I always feel that way when I see a spectacular view of the sun. 

I was recently lucky enough to connect with Pete Farmer from RedSeaDanceRecords (http://soundcloud.com/redseadancerecords) who has now released my first album "Dream States" under his label.
For anyone who is interested it is on all the usual online stores. Check out the track previews on my spotlight tab, there are Beatport links there too.
