Musician and painter Thabiso Thabethe returns with a unique project titled Sgandi Revolution to share his artistic view as a young black man from the township Winterveld,which is famously known as Sgandi.

Thabiso's sonic approach follows the format of his debut project African Alien, the LP is a multi-genre compilation of the music he used to write for commuters when he would bask in trains back in 2015/2016 , but unlike African Alien,Sgandi Revolution draws a lot of it's African drum patterns from the EP Born in Sgandi, this is more clear when hear the song Sgandi Revolution which sounds like an alternative version of the song Born in Sgandi.

Just as he does with paint, Thabiso Thabethe blends multiple genres so seamsly with collaborations from jazz musicians, amapiano producer, R&B and Rap artists to create a wide sonic experience that blends soul music,reggae vocals,Fela Kuti inspired afrobeat, folk music and afro deep house.

With powerful soulful vocals and lyrics that  address the social ills in Sgandi, Thabiso Thabethe has finally cracked the sound that will resonate with both the local and international listener.

Singer/Songwriter THABISO THABETHE also known as the African Alien returns with a new afro pop song titled Dipatje (local term for weed); an afro pop song that blends afrobeat and ragga influence with a touch of the amapiano log drum to represent  his South African identity.

This is feel good summer song where Thabiso Thabethe uses poetry to represent the high of the weed as the deep affection for a beautiful lady he finds attractive. Produced by Thabiso Thabethe himself, the song has the musician's live music identity at its core as he invited SbuD'lead to add a nice touch of some African guitar accents and leaks.

"Dangerous" – A Mixtape by Thabiso Thabethe and Brra Dann, A Bold Representation of Triumph Over Adversity

Johannesburg, South Africa — December 14, 2024 — Renowned producer and artist Thabiso Thabethe, alongside rapper Brra Dann, are set to release their highly anticipated joint mixtape titled Dangerous—a project that embodies the raw, unfiltered experience of growing up in some of South Africa’s most perilous townships. The mixtape is a tribute to resilience, hard work, and the relentless pursuit of success, crafted from the hearts and minds of two artists who have risen above the challenges of their respective communities.

Dangerous draws its name from the harsh realities faced by both artists. Thabiso Thabethe hails from Sgandi (also known as Winterveld), an area plagued by drugs, crime, and systemic poverty. Brra Dann, on the other hand, comes from Ga-Rankuwa, a township known for its high levels of violence and economic deprivation. Despite these difficult circumstances, both artists have utilized their God-given talents to carve out their own paths to success, illustrating through their music that with grit, perseverance, and determination, no environment is too "dangerous" to overcome.

"We come from places that have shaped us, but they don’t define us," says Thabiso Thabethe. "This mixtape is not just music—it's a narrative of survival, a testament to the power of creativity and hard work as tools to escape the traps set by circumstance."
