Tha Music Lab is a songwriting & music production program where teens create original songs developed through a study of Hip-Hop and Rhythm and Blues focusing on issues important to them. These songs are performed and recorded in a collection of the teens’ original work. The teens also produce radio ready music and develop a full musical show inclusive of dance choreography. Our program focuses heavily on group projects and peer interaction. Through several workshops, projects and writing sessions the teens will learn how to communicate their ideas and feelings. In Tha Music Lab teens control the outcome and flow of the program. During the first week of the class the teens are informed of their expectations as leaders of the classroom. The rules and guidelines are outlined as well. Teen leadership is 100% fully integrated into our curriculum.
