Lessons in Love

“But what about your career?” was the first comment from a fan upon hearing the news of my pregnancy. Yes, my career was on an upward trajectory when I learned I was going to be a mother, but it was uncomfortable having someone question my decision to become a parent at that stage of my life. From then, I made a point to be intentional with the songs I wrote, the songs I played and the shows I did. And not only did I have a point to prove to an industry that has given mothers a harder time existing in it, I had a point to prove to my daughter and to justify the time I inevitably had to spend away from her.

Purpose

There is always the question of ‘did i make the right decision’ when you walk away from a relationship you’ve invested so much of your life into. What would be different if I stayed? What if things could be different?
