Farhannah won AVA Festival’s Emerging DJ competition in 2020 and will be performing at AVA in September. She has always had a love for 70s and 80s music and started off DJing disco. As she’s grown as a DJ she has also developed a taste for techno and more tribal sounds. In this Funk with Farhannah session expect an infusion of disco, house and techno music.

L Vis 1990, real name James Connolly, runs one of the UK's hottest club nights and label 'Night Slugs', alongside Bok Bok. His debut album, 'Neon Dreams', was released towards the end of 2011 and featured collaborations with Teki Latex, Para One, Julio Bashmore and Javeon McCarthy.

And the name L Vis 1990? Connolly explains it comes from a line in '21st Century Boy' by 80's pop punks Zig Zig Sputnik. In the intro to the track they describe the ultimate band who are going to change the future by revisiting the past. Following a theme for this Essential Mix, L Vis 1990 merges timless classics from the likes of Carl Craig and Laurent Garnier, with brand new music for 2012.

This is the 1st episode of a fortnightly radio show featuring artists strongly associated with the Riverside Festival in Glasgow. It’s important that we all remain connected through the music while we wait for the return of events. RF Radio will drop every second Friday on our SoundCloud and kicking off the series is someone who is no stranger to either Glasgow or the Riverside. 

As one of the UK’s best-loved selectors Skream has enjoyed the kind of consistency most DJs and producers can only dream of. His passion for collecting and playing music is unrelenting and runs deep to his core; disco, house, techno and everything in between. Still only in his early thirties, Skream has achieved more in the last 15 years than most artists do in a lifetime, yet his hunger and enthusiasm is akin to that of someone who is only just getting started. Skream’s history is well documented; a love affair with music that was triggered by his older brother, Hijak. DJing since he was 11. Making music at 15 and one of the key innovators at the birth of dubstep. All before he’d left his teens. With his place in UK music history already assured, he could have easily kicked back and taken advantage of his legendary status. Instead he opted to make the transition to disco, house and techno, leaving the dubstep world to do his own thing, in typical Skream style.
