Kay-D - Missing (Facundo Sosa Remix) [Another Life Music]

Rounding out a strong spring season, Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Sinan Arsan back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Turkey, Sinan first emerged as a producer in 2019 with a release on Stellar Fountain's Black division, before going on to land projects via Droid9 South America, Future Avenue and Soundteller Records across 2020. Immediately recognized for his groovy progressive sound, Sinan would go on to earn the support of Hernan Cattaneo, while adding Balkan Connection, Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and One Of A Kind to his resume. Having released his ‘Eloquence' EP via Dopamine White in 2021, Sinan now makes a welcome return to the label with ‘Amaranth', alongside a remix from Diego Acosta.

Beginning with the panoramic synth textures and powerful drive of the original mix, Sinan flexes his free-thinking muscles with a creation equally at home on a peak time dance floor or floating above a festival skyline. Rolling grooves, percolating arps and squelchy synths make for a strong rhythmic core, while hopeful overlays elevate mood as the main break commences. Furthering its emotive appeal, the centrepiece melts down into a heartfelt melody; reflective in nature, the disorienting theme delivers dizzying moments, perfectly setting up an effects laden build and groovy final movement.

The release concludes with Diego Acosta returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Amaranth'. Hailing from Uruguay, Diego Acosta has made remarkable strides since first emerging in 2021. In finding a healthy balance between progressive and organic house, the Montevideo resident has compiled an impressive resume in just twenty-four short months. Nicholas Van Orton's BCSA, Antrim's Strangers Beats and Jelly For The Babies' RYNTH have been landing spots for his far-reaching sound, while global tastemakers such as Guy J, Mariano Mellino and Armen Miran have championed his sound along the way. Having made his Dopamine White debut last year with ‘Sixteen', Diego now returns to the label with a gorgeous rendition of ‘Amaranth'. From a deeper vision, the Uruguayan artist draws on the sensibilities of the original, working progressive rhythms over a bed of pulsating beats and finely tuned percussion. Tastefully restrained, the main break advances the narrative with cascading melodies and balmy atmospheres, eventually giving way to buzzing chord stabs and a finale that is equal parts energetic and uplifting.

Amaranth

Amaranth [Dopamine White]

An artist with success on Proton Music dating back to early 2019, Dabeat has excelled through his collaborative work with Kamilo Sanclemente, and his solo "Equilibrium" EP in May 2022. Now returning with the 3-track "Elevate", the title track is driven by a powerful beat and chugging percussive groove before a filtered arpeggio and richly textured pads join the aural party. Evolving easily, a free-flowing lead line glides forwards, combining with soaring strings at the beatless breakdown before joining forces with the strong rhythmic back drop in the latter stages. "Sinergy" quickly piques attention with its chugging bassline groove and delicately placed synth motifs. Full of atmosphere with its combination of arpeggios, synth flourishes and immaculately cadenced percussion, the track hypnotises with majestic poise in the second half. Joining forces with fellow Colombian, Kamilo Sanclemente, the effortless dancefloor groove and hypnotic composure of "Elara" is an illustration of elegant and dynamic progressive house. As modulated synth lines pan the stereo spectrum, a sharp vocal sample is juxtaposed against the evolving sonic collage and atmospheric soundscapes.

An artist with an equally impressive portfolio and reputation, RIGOONI has overseen more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2018 debut. A pair of remixes for Savvas and Trilucid in February and July 2022 were a sparkling introduction to the Brazilian's work on Proton Music as he now applies a magic touch to "Sinergy". Adding a vibrant rhythmic backdrop to Dabeat's work, familiar melodic phrases make their presence felt, juxtaposed alongside a mechanical and filtered effect that is interspersed with precision and verve. Waxing and waning with dancefloor ease, the RIGOONI remix is a striking reminder of his technique and craftsmanship.

The father and son combination of about : river have been regulars on Particles and Proton Music with their organic and flowing musical knowhow. A clutch of original works has found their way on to Particles since a debut for the label, while January 2022's reworking of Michael A's "Fantasy" saw a Proton Music debut. Returning to rework "Equilibrium" from Dabeat's first EP, a cascading musical oasis is given a beautifully evocative new treatment as familiar refrains and elements from the original drift out in new sonic patterns. Redolent in coruscating arpeggios, evocative chord changes and a hypnotic beat, the Estonian duo have created a beautiful sonic tapestry.

Igal Magitman is no stranger to the Proton Music archives with an array of production material dating back to 2008. June 2021's "To the Mood and Back" was a notable highlight as are remixes for the likes of Andre Sobota, Silinder and Moonbeam. Now returning, the Magitman remix of "Sinergy" is full of rhythmic force as elements from the original are cast in new roles alongside the Israeli artist's fluid and trademark graceful production. Full of dancefloor brio, a swathe of new production material creates a new direction for Dabeat's work that explodes post-breakdown with a strong and mesmerising new synth motif. The result is another impressive track in the Magitman production arsenal.

Able to "Elevate" to new heights with three new musical vignettes, Dabeat rises further with remixes from RIGOONI, about : river and Magitman.

Dabeat - Sinergy (Magitman Remix)

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Chris Zag back to the label for his first single. Operating as the labels AandR since its inception, Greek artist Chris Zag has been a fixture of the progressive house scene for the better part of a decade. A remix of 'Remain Strong' by Simos Tagias in 2016 marked Chris' first official release and it did not go unnoticed, receiving live play from Armin Van Buuren at A State of Trance 750 in Utrecht, Netherlands. 2017 then yielded a well received remix for Dopamine boss Nikko.Z via Tash's Movement Recordings, before ultimately returning to Dopamine with a remix of Cream's 'Illusion' in 2020. Now, presenting his first ever original production, Chris returns to Dopamine White with 'Melodic Horizon', alongside a remix from Thanasis Sgouros.

Getting the release underway with the original mix, Chris marries rolling grooves with buoyant rhythms and inviting electronics. Sleek and refined throughout, it's an array of arpeggiated sequences and hopeful pads which elevates mood across the first act, as shimmering effects and clattering percussive arrangements provide a bridge into the main break. Balmy atmospheres rise across the interlude, creating moments of anticipation and bliss, as an eventual zenith is reached with clustered melodies and hazy harmonics spearheading an uplifting finale.

The release concludes with Thanasis Sgouros making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Melodic Horizon'. With over three decades in the electronic music industry, Greek artist Thanasis Sgouros began his career as a radio producer before transitioning into DJing and producing. Highly regarded in his home country, Thanasis holds residencies at Wish Club and Transistor, while his progressive house productions have found a home on Smart Phenomena and Kimbo Records. Now, presenting his first production of 2023, Thanasis Sgouros debuts on Dopamine White with a clubbier take on 'Melodic Horizon'. Drawing inspiration from the original, Thanasis layers heady effects and arcane electronics atop punchy beats and driving grooves. The primary themes prove to be mysterious and thought-provoking across the first movement, before tastefully melting down to a darker narrative during a one-minute interlude, as a mystical final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music gets 2018 underway by welcoming Esko to the label for his debut EP. The Ukrainian born, Greece based artist owns a short but tidy discography, highlighted by releases on Bullfinch. Now making his much anticipated debut on Dopamine Music, Esko presents his two track EP entitled 'Pop Culture'. 
Esko's borderless approach to DJing has shaped his production sound as well, fusing elements from various genres yet always keeping the dance floor in mind. The lead track 'Pop Culture' exemplifies that perfectly with its minimalistic yet emotive approach. Backed by a stripped, delicate sounding groove comes luminous pads and timeless electronics. The main break proves to be the musical highlight as a poignant lead theme tantalizes the senses before a dubby drop brings the tranquil seven minute journey home.
The companion piece 'Trevi' brings the energy and tempo up a touch, complementing 'Pop Culture' perfectly. A warm, wobbly groove sits at the foundation, carving out a lively cadence as astral designs drift over the framework. A cavernous break expands the emotional narrative with intertwined motifs, eventually melting down to the rumbling groove for a tasteful drop. Two exceptional creations from Esko which certainly make him an artist to keep a close eye on as 2018 moves forward.
