Na tarde desta sexta-feira, 19 de janeiro, o Expresso 104,5 recebeu representantes de blocos de Belo Horizonte para falar sobre o carnaval de 2024 na capital mineira. 

O apresentador Luiz Fernando Freitas recebeu no estúdio da Estação do Conhecimento, Paulo Vitor (Bloco Seu Vizinho), Lucas Moraes (Funk You), Pedro Gontijo (Humaitá), Gana (Truck do Desejo) e Luci De Nanã (Tambolelê).

Na conversa foi abordado a história do carnaval de Belo Horizonte, o inicio de cada bloco, o renascimento da folia na cidade e ações feitas pelos blocos durante os últimos anos.

Listening to The Boosh radio series I found out that The Mod Wolves Song featured later on in the TV series had lyrics then and it sounded great. So I decided to edit these versions of the song that appear both on the radio and the TV series and make them into one extended version so I can listen to it over and over. The contexts (storyline and characters, for instance) in which the song appears are different in both media; therefore this here is only for the music.

The Cure & Ivete Sangalo - Just Like Eva (Bertazi 'Axé Bahindie' Remix)

Formed by Mark Lane and Tina Morrison in 1999, Aware landed on the shores of Ibiza like reinforcements to a second wave chill out scene. An early meeting with Hed Kandi pioneer, Mark Doyle, led to his interest in signing the band for compilations, and Aware’s first deal resulted in an international release on the cult label the following year.

Aware’s first, low-key gig on Ibiza caught the attention of a friend of Jose Padilla who rushed the band straight round to meet the owners of Café del Mar. Roman Castillo heard the band and asked them to play at Café del Mar’s first major live event and 20th anniversary celebrations. Playing their second gig on the island, going from a small, select audience for a CD launch at the prestigious Villa Mercedes to a crowd of over two thousand at Café del Mar, spurred Aware on to greater success.

Alongside the likes of Royksopp, A Man Called Adam, Bent and Zero 7, they soon became a “must have” band for the coolest chill out and lounge compilation albums, their tracks being sought after by major labels like Warners and BMG, along with specialist and cult independents, including the famous Café del Mar label itself, as well as appearing in a Channel 4 Television programme about the chill out genre.

With occasional forays into the live arena, Aware enjoy their winter residency at Attik Studios in the heart of the English countryside, continuing to write and produce tracks for numerous international compilations. Mark typically spends the summer months DJ-ing his eclectic sunset sets at the cult status “La Torre” in the hills of San Antonio, Ibiza, whose first ever compilation album was painstakingly sourced and curated by the band.

Aware have enjoyed radio coverage across many countries, whilst still retaining the mystique of underground artists. Even unauthorised YouTube fan-uploads of their tracks with simple still images garner views in the thousands.

Björk & Elza Soares - Sambando No Escuro (Bertazi Mashup)

While we cannot see small nanoscopic objects like proteins or other molecules that make up virtually all living matter including our cells, tissues, as well as pathogens such as viruses, our computational algorithm allows us to make its material manifestation audible.  This piece is a musical representation of the amino acid sequence and structure of the spike protein of the pathogen of COVID-19, 2019-nCoV (protein data bank identifier 6VSB [1]). 

MUSICAL DECEIT

A virus’ genome hijacks the host cell’s protein manufacturing machinery, and forces it to replicate the viral genome and produce viral proteins to make new viruses from it.  This musical art teaches us something about the fine line between beauty of life and death as an opposite pole.  As you listen to the protein you will find that the intricate design results in incredibly interesting and actually pleasing, relaxing sounds. This doesn’t really convey the deadly impacts this particularly protein is having on the world. This aspect of the music shows the deceiving nature of the virus, how it hijacks our body to replicate, and hurt us along the way. So, the music is a metaphor for this nature of the virus to deceive the host and exploit it for its own multiplication. 

HOW IT IS DONE: 

What you hear is a multi-layered algorithmic composition featuring both the vibrational spectrum of the entire protein (expressed in sound and rhythmic elements), the sequence and folding of amino acids that compose the virus spike structure, as well as interwoven melodies - forming counterpoint music - reflecting the complex hierarchical intersecting geometry of the protein [2].
