Known for diverse sounds and head nodding beats, That African (Anton Oosthuizen) will have you moving. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, and now a “Vancouver household name,” his musical style is full spectrum. Hip hop, trip hop, downtempo, reggae, house, world beats, and all manner of bass music are all in his repertoire. All of the above are blended skillfully and sprinkled with a healthy dose of turntablism. It’s easy listening for the discerning ear. From dance floors in forests (Shambhala, Bass Coast, Astral Harvest, Luminosity, and many more) to that mix that was playing at your favourite restaurant last night, That African’s style is always pleasing crowds.
