a take on the classic ave maria, using different elements from the romantic, classical, and late baroque time periods. use of diatonic runs to give energy to the piece while extensive utilization of total range again gives a sense of energy while providing connectivity. if you know my composition you know that this will be changed within an inch of its life come june, and i'm just waiting to see where we go with this!

2014 Compo! Ave Maria & Addendum! Latin! For soprano (Ainsley), cello (Hannah), and violin (Marissa). I kept the key consistent because I wanted to compose a true thing simply and without flair - Xian, eat your heart out! Do the triplet rhythms need to come back? I started singing this at church on Christmas Eve 2015.

I almost started crying; when I was very small, this was my favorite Christmas carol. It still is. There is something very simple, very lovely, and very bittersweet about it.
