Downtown Secret Society (DTSS) officially formed in 2015 when local deejays Darren Somerville and Rowan Panozzo made a natural progression from developing edits to producing their own music and combining tracks with percussion, synths and the odd 80’s keytar in live shows.

The duo have performed in some of the hottest venues on the Gold Coast and Brisbane club scene including regular gigs at EAST Broadbeach, Elsewhere and Prohibition. They’ve also featured on the Nautic Giants line-up twice in 2015, performing in front of sold out crowds, and mixed it up at Platform and Johnny Browns.

The music style of DTSS is unique in its own way … focusing on atmosphere and sound production and often accompanied by live violinists and vocalists. You can expect a refreshing set infusing house, nu disco and live elements sampling familiar classics that will remind you of the good times had but with a modern twist.

DTSS know how to set the vibe and please a crowd and are quickly creating a buzz around town gaining an avid following of fans and support from industry peers. No stranger to the scene, the boys have over 17 years of DJ-ing experience between them.

Rowan P - Sweet Blindness

As well as being a respected DJ playing regularly around Australia, Jayo also had a breakout 2015 as one half of Sydney live soul and hip hop outfit Yum Yum. Jayo has been beat making and sampling for years and it shows in his tunes. Here he takes the Har-You Percussion groups "Welcome to the Party" and loops it into a blistering end of night dance cut.

He also hosts regular music related film screenings and QandA sessions with some of the best musicians visiting the country, as well as being a longstanding writer for, among others, The Sydney Morning Herald, and the iconic, but sadly now-defunct, Three D World. Currently holding down regular DJ gigs around Sydney, and hosting his excellent weekly radio show "Jumping the Gap" on Sydney's 2ser. Paris was kind enough to turn in this stellar edit for vol 4. It's a classic style mash up with many twists and turns, and gets better and better with every listen. Don the legwarmers and play it loud.

Meem has been at the forefront of the Australian party scene for close to 2 decades, both as a classy and regularly booked out DJ, as well as performing in various live acts. His skill at working dancefloors is matched by his studio ability as well, with a tonne of releases under his belt, many of which are collectors items for record collectors. He also is the longstanding host of legendary Radio program Back to Funk on Sydney's 2ser. 
For vol 4 here, he has given his own twists and tweaks to a forgotten (and ultra-rare) Australian boogie gem from Hiroshi and Claudia - "Beats from the depths". Added props to Kinetic from Aussiefunk.blogspot.com.au for this too.
