A Cappella Covers

Tomás Luis de Victoria's Kyrie from his Officium Defunctorum. My school's Concert Choir performed it last spring as part of a larger Requiem medley. I recorded all of the parts using Garageband. Please excuse the untransposed Altus part, especially in the middle section (I am extremely sorry for the middle section). Listen with headphones!

This is my arrangement of "We All Need Saving" by Jon McLaughlin. The Soprano and Alto parts are transposed down an octave. I've been sick and stressed so it's not perfect quality, and I'm also not a great solo singer, so I didn't record the solo line. But this should give you an idea of the arrangement. Another basic edit/mix I did on my own. This piece was almost singlehandedly responsible for igniting my love of choral music. I previously recorded this piece in fall 2013, but I decided to re-record it to show my growth as a singer since then.

This piece is a beautiful work by Mendelssohn as part of a series of motets for Christian holy days, titled "Sechs Sprüche". This one, "Am Neujahrstage", is the second in the series. The title indicates that the piece is meant to be sung on New Year's Day.

Text (German):
Herr, Gott, du bist unsre Zuflucht für und für.
Ehe denn die Berge worden, und die Erde und die Welt erschaffen worden, bist du Gott von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
Hallelujah!

Translation (English):
Lord, God, you are our refuge for evermore.
You are our God from age to age, from before the mountains were made, and the lands and the world were created.
Hallelujah!

Note: I made two versions of this: one with the soprano and alto parts recorded an octave down from written pitch (close harmony version), and one with the soprano and alto parts pitch-shifted up an octave to match the written score (written version). I couldn't decide which version I like better, so I'm uploading them both! I hope you enjoy!
