Techno contundente, lleno de sorpresas. Hit-hats eternos, aun en tu mente años después. Personaje inimitable. El puto amos vamos.

Todo un placer para nosotros hacer este programa, como todos, pero es que este además trae dentro cachitos de recuerdos de cuando nos movíamos por los clubs en busca de ese musicón, que nos hizo bailar y festear, y de amar el techno like a religion.

French artist based in Bordeaux Von Grall is an emerging figure of the contemporary deep techno scene. After releasing on a VA for Semantica Records, Planet Rhythm and Annulled Music in 2014, he shared a split EP with Milton Bradley on Shipwerk sublabel Deep Sound Channel. He also released 3 four tracks EPs on Midgar Records and Semantica in 2016. Von Grall is surely someone to watch, having many other big projects in the pipeline to be released in the next month.

One of my most favourite record labels became 20 this year. Hospital Productions was founded in 1998 when Dominick Fernow was 16 years old. Cassettes and CDrs were released in its early years, many of Fernow's own creations under the name Prurient, as well as various local acts. Fernow is a prolific artist recording under numerous aliases including Vatican Shadow, Fernow is best known for his dark and abrasive musical output under the stage name Prurient.

Over the next year (Nov 2017 – 2018) Electronic Explorations will be celebrating 10 years. 10 years of publishing music by Rob Booth's most favourite artists and labels. For this 10th anniversary celebration Booth has approached those labels that have kept the quality high, those labels that Booth has a close connection too. Hospital Productions kicks the Label Series off - and what better timing with the label celebrating their own 20 year milestone.

The London-based documentary filmmaker has directed three art and music documentaries, Art & Mind (2019), Industrial Soundtrack For The Urban Decay (2015) and Paris/Berlin: 20 Years Of Underground Techno (2012), all of which have not only been acclaimed works but also important within the scenes and communities they are about.

New Brvtalism No. 205 - Amélie Ravalec

Thrènes Mix 027 comes from St. Petersburg artist Ultima. His track selection echoes the artist’s broad musical culture, which stems from his long trajectory in the underground music scene. He has been active for almost a decade, as a collector, passionate DJ, and event organizer. 

In 2013, Ultima founded the collective "Spacedome", composed of open-minded, respectful and curious people. Within this context, he ran many mini-festivals organized in the pine forests around St. Petersburg. A few years later, in 2018, he took a step ahead by co-founding the club RAF25. The venue is located in a Soviet bomb shelter and extends over 25 feet subterraneously. The underground flair of this club, combined with a thoughtful selection of guest artists, makes RAF25 a reference on the techno scene.

The mix he assembled for Thrènes encapsulates the depth of Ultima's dark and captivating universe. 
The best way to describe Ultima's mix for Thrènes is through his own words:
"...it reflects some of my musical passions and flows like a mystical anti-utopic story in the name of salvation and truth."
