After 3 blasting releases and a stabbing album under the Techno Thriller sticker, Hoel Moce flies by himself over the valley of the Endless Week-end-ers.
Here is his solo project, recorded at home during autumn in french Britany, the project is named after the Land of the Damned according to the vernacular local legends : the Yeun Elez.

Mixed by Luc Bersier (Reymour - Knekelhuis) and mastered by the almighty Seb Normal, the artworks are made of 6 woodcuts realized by Hoel himself while recording. This debut album is a manifesto for the artist. Hoel invites through these 10 Dark-Folkish tracks, Current93, Coil or Throbbing Gristle, “Les Maitres Fous” from the ethnographic director Jean Rouch in the middle of the “Hard To Be A God” from the russian medievist : Alexeï Guerman.

Illustrated by his talented woodcutting skills during the recording sessions and inked then manually, it's a 2x5 pages booklet which envelops 100 Chrome tapes available to preorder.

The second track on the release The Round Table, a Blind Emperor remix album is the Berlin-based audio- visual artist and producer Max Dahlhaus's interpretation of 'Marching Crowd.' It has extraterrestrial synths, punishing percussions and symphonic keys that produce encaptivating melodies - depicting a journey down and through a wormhole where a welcome and basking light awaits on the other side.

Meeting with the others in the shrine filled the air with tension. Everybody who mattered was supposed to come and join the conversation at The Round Table. Many have tried to enter, but the doors open only every hundred years if touched by the energy and all of them. It was crucial not to be late. The Blind Emperor and her convoy had to hurry and move forward. Her mind filled with thoughts: Will they all come? Have they changed? Is the monumental and mysterious shrine as they have said? Nobody knew what was going to happen inside, but everyone knew it would change everything.

About the album The Round Table (Blind Emperor remix album)
Early this year, Berlin-based artist The Allegorist came out with her 4th album, Blind Emperor. The layered project used the power of soundscapes to create a detailed fictitious story of a mythical land that trudges through struggles on its way to revelations of prosperity. The protagonist, Blind Emperor, leads the charge into a brighter tomorrow in a textured aesthetic of an epic, cinematic, choral, ambient techno album. Anna Jordan (The Allegorist) has a holistic approach to her projects. She created the album art, wrote an included story and composed a poem that all combined to tell the imperial fantasy.

In another component of the aggregate story, The Allegorist is releasing The Round Table, a Blind Emperor remix album, including animations of an eclectic mix of coloured smoke representing each featured artist. She has also crafted a short story to go with the record, which depicts the origin of Blind Emperor's momentous gathering. Six enthralling artists each take a track from the original album and reimagine them in their interpretation. The remixed work adds another chapter to the fable of Blind Emperor with new layers of edge, tension, divulgence, plot and twisting paths added through the much- anticipated meeting.

Es por eso que estamos muy complacidos de poder traer a ustedes, en nuestra vigésimo quinta entrega, a este dúo de la urbe santiaguina formado en el año 2014 y que se destacan por un sonido ambiental y atmosférico de amplio espectro. 

En este podcast podremos escuchar algo un poco más concreto y de ritmos marcados pero que nunca deja de lado el sonido experimental que los caracteriza. En este nuevo documento de la Zona escucharemos un manejo prolijo de múltiples texturas y cambios rítmicos que sin mayor anuncio transforman la masa de sonidos. Transitaremos por pasajes que se alejan de las estructuras y entran en terrenos más complejos, así en distintas instancias van moldeando de forma subterránea este trabajo, cómo aullidos profundos que en forma espiral resuenan desde el fondo de una gran cueva.

Combat Recordings teams up with Opal Tapes to release Mick Harris, with this 5 track EP of tar-black, bass heavy sonic violence. This EP features 5 reworks of “Salford Priors”, one of the heaviest tracks from his return-to-form album “Over Depth”, the first by Mick Harris himself, and 4 more by his longtime collaborators in the production guises of Fausten, Stormfield, Monster X and Scald Process.

The EP begins with an apocalyptic, dubbed out violent reworked by the man himself, creeping in with a cold, calm eerie drone that quickly goes from zero to 100%, blasting into a full force attack of artillery percussion and strafing, shrapnel textures atop the landmine subs and characteristic Harris snarling mono-bass. A calm, desolate atmosphere permeates the barrage, giving an odd stillness to the rhythmic violence.

[Monster X remix]
Formerly London, now Berlin-based sound designer Julien Caraz has caused much distress over the years with the sheer rage and precision sonic assaults of his Monster X project. Here he eschews his usual frenetic tempos for a solid 130BPM, a sleek techno destroyer built for giant spaces and huge soundsystems in mind. Tense, throbbing halftime rhythms that release into a full stampede, metalwork reverberating beside the charging subs.

[Stormfield remix]
The Combat Recordings boss has worked audiovisually with Mick since the Scorn AV at Bangface Weekend in 2011, touring with Fret AV in 2018. Here he  switches back into audio mode to rework Salford Priors into a hard electro assault for the Stormfield remix.
Chopping up the original breakbeat, reworked to attack from different angles, ducking, weaving and striking like a boxer. 
Amid the relentless bassdrum pressure comes a call-and-response interplay between rhythmic elements and fierce technoid bleeps, coaxed out of his beloved Machinedrum. 

[Fausten remix]
Fausten is the shadowy, twisted collaboration between Monster X and Stormfield. Having released a staggeringly twisted album on the legendary Ad Noiseam, Fausten went into hibernation as the pair pursued their own projects, with only a few sporadic tacks surfacing over the years. The pair have been putting together an album’s worth of new material for 2019, beginning with a powerful remix of Salford Priors. Taking Fret back into it’s aquatic, fathoms-deep sonic territory, this remix is a behemoth work that moves at quarter-step tempo,allowing for more physicality and dynamics, the profound pulse of each profoundly deep bassdrum like an underwater volcanic explosion, with skittering percussion the resonates in the stillness.

[Scald Process remix]
Scald is the live-instrumentation collaboration of Stormfield, on this track featuring classical cellist Joe Zeitlin and improvisational violinist Liam Noonan, taking their intricate string recordings and reworking them into a brooding, prowling structure of snarling bass and intricate drumwork. The sinuous strings weave with a lazy elegance like trails of ink through water, surrounded by the insect chatter of the elektron machinedrum in a dusty, demonic fusion of live improvisation and deep, dusty electronics.

Shackleton’s open-ended musical project Tunes Of Negation featuring Takumi Motokawa, Raphael Meinhart, and a guest appearance from Heather Leigh is back on Cosmo Rhythmatic after its acclaimed debut last year. 

While Shackleton’s output has often attempted to cross all musical borders, the newest manifestation of Tunes of Negation suggests themes of impermanence, rebirth, and transcendence with a fiercer dedication than ever before. In attempting to balance shadow with light, ‘Like The Stars Forever And Ever’ runs from sombre or gentle passages to dissonance through to uplifting finales and the whole range between. 

As always, Shackleton’s music feels ceremonial and narrative, at once commenting and facilitating the journey of all entities engaged in ritual listening. The fragility of life and the awareness of an inevitable end are transcribed musically in all their discordant, fearful, and mournful aspects. However, this does not at all make the album an overtly gloomy, depressing affair. In every track, the music ends up soaring towards a sense of ecstatic dissolution. A representation of a bewildering cosmic love in the transient, mortal nature of all things. A re-assimilation of energy towards new forms. 

There are no attempts to solve ultimate mysteries though, rather celebrate mystery in all its power, beauty, and contradictions. Shackleton’s ever-masterful embroidery of tonal and atonal percussions, of acoustic and electronic organs, of electronic sound design and physical ambiance, is—as always in his style—organized in compositions in which hypnotic repetition is the basis for evolution and ultimate change. The feast of life, death, and rebirth. Of fluctuation between multiple states of being and non-being. Like the stars, forever and ever.
