Le Reggae Français avant. Dans les années 1960 et 1970, Qui aurait cru que Claude François avait une parfaite connaissance de la musique jamaïquaine ?
Imaginerait-on Johnny, Sacha Distel, Dario Moreno, Joe Dassin ou encore Eddy Mitchell reprendre Jimmy Cliff et Bob Marley ?
Voici un travail d'archéologie qui rend hommage à ces reprises oubliées au sein de la chanson française. Un enchaînement de covers toutes plus originales les unes que les autres. Ce travail a été réalisé à partir de mes ressources personnelles et quelques années de collecte sur la thématique, de l'importante recherche de Laurent Allègre, Reggae Obsession et d'une compilation, Système Sonore d'un inconnu vivement recherché.
Merci à Ricki "Sacha" Trooper du Pum Pum Sound pour l'entertainment au fil de la mixtape.  Dédicace à Daddy, de D&H pour la transmission de la passion des big tunes de la chanson française. Enfin et d'abord, Big up à la team Daube fi Daube.

"Love" is Merav Stylee’s second recorded project, the first was "Babylon Is At War" on Culture Dub Records too. Merav is an Israeli singer who grew up in France and Belgium. She’s been active in the Reggae and Dub scenes for over 30 years... To create this EP, Merav Stylee teamed up with producer Mighty Pepper.

Veteran Jamaican deejay Tippa Lee returns to the fold with a playful twist on the classic love song, professing his adoration for sweet reggae music and all it's provided him. 

As per usual, the enigmatic Naram is on riddim duties with a retro-futuristic piece of rub-a-dub mixing live Simmons drums, acoustic piano and a menagerie of colourful synths.

Paired with a stripped back dub version, mixed to tape, and mastered for full effect by New Zealand’s Downbeat Mastering, this is another essential 45 from the Red Robin camp.
