The King of the Ring tournament had really become nothing but an afterthought and a plot point for other storylines by 2001. Nothing against Edge, because he deserved the big moment in the spotlight. However, the grand final was so damn early in the show, you easily forget why it was called “King of the Ring” in the first place. The KOTR concept really needed to die off, but alas they tried it one more time the next year.

I don't think I ever thought about Heyman's line there before, but even if Kurt won it would be wrong anyway. Bret Hart was the first - and still only! - two time winner, since he won two back to back: the one in 1991 and then in the first dedicated PPV in 1993.

Ah You guys skipped Backlash and Judgement Day!!! Worst Podcast ever. :P Just joking great new episode guys.
