We wanted to make something emotionally jarring, and I think we've accomplished that with this song. It builds from almost nothing into a huge anthem, inspired by bands like The 1975 and Boys Like Girls. We're really, really, proud of this.

It's time for a change.

Love lost, dreams dreamed, hopes and prayers answered or left untouched... the world is an amazing and mysterious place, and The Balcony Scene wants to make sense of it all.

When you think of music, you think of experiences. You think of the best times of your life and you think of the worst. It can bring you back to a different place and time and make you think of people that have been lost to a calendar that stops for nobody.

The Balcony Scene wants you to hear our music so you can be brought back, so you can move forward, or so you can be taken away. We want to be your escape, something that you can turn to when everything and everybody else turns away. We want to be an experience that nobody can emulate anywhere else.

When you hear our music, we want you to have fun. We want you to smile, we want you to cry, to feel. What is music but a mix of emotions in a physical form?

Joe Aravich and Luke Bickerstaff had played together in the band "Apples & Arsenic" in 2011, but time changes everything- life got in the way, the band fell apart, and music took a backseat to life. In the Spring of 2013, Joe realized he needed to do something to get back into music; being behind a kit, looking out into a crowd that's smiling, yelling, and singing along is something that cannot be emulated anywhere. Before he came home from school in Pittsburgh, he contacted Luke about starting another band.

The time was right. He got home and they started searching for a guitarist. As luck would have it, Chase was playing a coffee house showcase that the two attended. Immediately after the show, Joe and Luke approached him to ask if he would want to play in a band with them.

They began writing only to find out that Joe had been accepted to do a summer internship with a record label on Warped Tour 2013. The band had to be put on hold; Joe left to travel the country in the back of a van for two months, meeting the musicians that made him want to play music in the first place.

All the while, Chase and Luke honed their skills and wrote. When Joe got back, the three members played two shows, one being a battle of the bands.

They won the battle, but what comes next?

They are currently preparing to record their debut EP and to play shows in Pittsburgh and surrounding cities. If you want them to come to your town, contact them at the Email below!
