Soul Clap describe him as the "best disco DJ in the world." Gilles Peterson called him the "edit king of 2011." And BBE has crowned him the "king of digging." Despite his association with disco, Kon's purview is much broader than a single genre. First one is Take Me, nice jazzy track by Russian fellow Buzz Compass, who was already released on previous FS compilation and some other labels (Glenview, No More Hits). Next come We Have Been Waiting, quality deep disco tune by Riccio, well-known Italian master (Bosconi, Fly By Night, Gentleman Recordings, etc). Another side start with strong funky stuff by Funkyjaws from Belarus (Kolour LTD, Glenview). And the last one is smooth relaxing story by Petr Serkin (Space Breaks, Deep Explorer). Just 250 copies, vinyl-only.

Vinyl-only, 250 copies, no repress... Freedom Sessions certainly know us how to get excited. They've got the vibes to back up their air of exclusivity, too. Each of these four cuts are well-polished deep house cuts the shimmer and shake with the perfect balance of jazz, soul and disco. Native content for the Russian label comes from Buzz Compass (bubbling bass, dreamy chord swoops and a killer loop) and Petr Serkin (filtered bliss that builds and builds). Flying further afield, Italian Riccio dusts off his meanest slap bass while Belarus's Funkyjaws lays down an ultimately timeless lesson in jazz-licked filtered dynamism. Limited and lush... All boxes ticked here.

Every now and then Spanish disco maverick Rayko gets the time to release some of his in-demand edits on his own label, Rare Wiri Feelings. Maybe it was the Christmas lull, but he's found the time again, and here we have On The Beat. The title track cruelly, but beautifully, teases out B. B. & Q. Band's "On The Beat" to heavenly effect, "Satisfaction" is a moody glam stomp and "Sneak Preview" is slick soul pop, but it's the funk meets Italo-disco of the euphoric "Time Bandits" that's the standout here.
