Dog Orchestra – “Hotel”

Reflecting on the origin of their band, Dog Orchestra’s Daniel says, “We never wanted it to be about us. We wanted it to be about the band and the music as a separate entity.” Adds Niklas, “As much as I love being part of Dog Orchestra I want to enjoy it the same way an audience member might. No wall between the band and the listener—that’s the goal.”
The band was born of Niklas and Daniel’s artistic synergy. With mutual interests in everything from indie rock to dance to hip hop, they joined a few pop bands, which ultimately imploded. Says Niklas, “It wasn’t until me and Daniel moved in together that I felt the music began to sound as good as it should.” The new roommates wrote four songs in just one weekend. “We inseparable after that, and I remember my sister telling me that my dad thought we were a couple.” 
They started recording guest vocals for their EP in Stockholm, before relocating to Berlin, where they recorded “Hotel,” among other songs. “It’s less restricted than Stockholm, where everything is clean and at a right angle—even the crooked ones are calculated,” says Daniel. Berlin’s grittier culture represented possibility. “It’s a city in shambles being rebuilt. The opportunities felt less policed. Like the whole city needs a good paint job, and no one is looking over your shoulder telling you how to paint it.” Their experience followed in kind.
Sweden has become synonymous for proffering songwriters who craft tech-savvy pop songs perfectly calibrated to become ear candy. Dog Orchestra is not that. An unfettered experiment, the group makes music as emotional and organic as its following. “We make music without much intellectualizing. Any connections or themes are subconscious,” Daniel says. “There’s something inspiring about an empty space that you move into. You see endless freedom of possibilities.”

British electronic rock band The Big Pink are making a welcomed return with their brand new single “Hightimes”. The single is a soaring maelstrom of powerful industrial beats and distorted chords, whirling in a heady swathe of synthesizers and stadium psychedelia, and serves as the perfect taster of their forthcoming 'Empire Underground' EP and what’s to come in 2016 .  

With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt “A Brief History of Love” and “Future This” – both reaching Top 10 status in the Billboard Heatseekers and Tastemakers Album Charts – The Big Pink will release the 'Empire Underground EP' in early 2016 and will follow with their third full-length later in the year, alongside a North American tour.

Their forthcoming release features contributors Andrew Wyatt & Dave Mccraken (producer of Ian brown) and was mixed by the legendary Alan Moulder.
