Isaac Aesili's  'Runaway' EP is a story of his journey from his South Pacific homeland in Aotearoa, New Zealand to his new South-East Asian base in Bangkok, Thailand. The title track "Runaway"  is a boogie blazing Juno 106 synth-driven modern funk jam that harks back to the sounds of Isaac's earlier Funkommunity and Sorceress productions. "Creatress" is a mystic hip hop instrumental ode to mother nature abundant in dense jazz harmony yet simultaneously spacious and tranquil. "Motion" is a bouncing deep house joint that evokes positive reassurance with a lush, rolling bassline that evolves into a soaring climax featuring Isaac's signature majestic trumpet. "Jazzmin" is the calm after the storm where a solitary Rhodes melody, an ambient andante beat, and haunting horns speak of overcoming turbulent times through returning to a place of peace.

Isaac Aesili is a Māori musician, DJ and music producer from New Zealand living in Bangkok. Internationally acclaimed solo artist and the producer and creative force behind Funkommunity, Sorceress and Karlmarx. Isaac’s original productions have been supported internationally by DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Benji B, and Lefto. His trumpet playing features on many collaborations including ‘Midnight in Peckham’ by Chaos in the CBD (Rhythm Section) and ‘Layer’ by Julien Dyne (Wonderful Noise/BBE). A world-renownedmusician on both trumpet and percussion, Isaac is a member of the Lord Echo band. His music fuses Soul, Funk, Jazz, Brazilian and Afro Latino styles with R&B, House and Electronic music. Isaac’s new EP ‘Runaway’ drops on 16th July 2021 on Bastard Jazz  Recordings.

It's been 10 years since the birth of Music Is My Sanctuary, and what a 10 years it’s been! Started in 2007 by Alexis Charpentier aka DJ Lexis in Montreal, Canada, Music Is My Sanctuary has been dedicated to discovering and presenting music often overlooked by mainstream music channels through articles, interviews, radio shows, DJ mixes, and events. 

The "10th Anniversary Compilation: Never Stop Digging" is an eclectic collection featuring 17 unreleased tracks from artists who all share the same vision and passion, and who represent the mentality and styles that Music Is My Sanctuary works to push forward. 

Side A focuses on some more floor-oriented grooves from artists who are known for both producing and DJing. Side B (kicked off by the ever-mysterious Clutchy Hopkins) is dedicated to the Hip Hop and Funk heads featuring artists who have all put their own unique spin on genres that have come before. Consider this a Future Classics affair! 

This project is a collaboration with 101 Apparel, who are providing the "Never Stop Digging" T-shirts which can be purchased from 101 Apparel directly. Both the T-shirt and cassette were designed by Montreal's Nik Brovkin. The official Music Is My Sanctuary 10th Anniversary celebration was held at Montreal’s Centre Phi, promoted and broadcasted live by Boiler Room. A big thank you goes out to the artists who provided tracks for this compilation, and to all artists who keep creating such fantastic music for us to share and enjoy. Without you there would be no us, and for this we can’t thank you enough!

Ahead of the new “Samba Del Sol” album from Clifford Brown & Jeen Bassa Ft. Ella Mae Sueref, Banoffee Pies Records present an early taste of the music within with this three track single "Mother Nature". 

With strong influences in Carnival and Latin sounds, culminated with Hip Hop drums and Soul roots - the duo meet in middle ground as an expression of their background, John’s heritage in Mauritius and Cliffords childhood in South America. Partnered with Ellas Spanish language fluency and soft Badhu acclaimed voice as previously heard on the single Stop Rewind, credited by the like of Gilles Peterson.

The release was recorded on Garageband by Clifford Brown and Jean Bassa with 2 Karaoke Microphones, mixed in Bath and later buried on a hard drive for over 6 years never to be heard again. Sliding into the forgotten darkness of lost tracks and rediscovered in 2017. The production, originally just an instrumental, was then found and reignited, revamped with a vocal insert from the wonderful Ella Mae Sueref. Living room jams made in smoke. Banoffee xx
