It is not widely known that Christina Aguilera has a twin sister, bewildered and scared by the fact that their daughter came out of the womb with fully formed dread locks, Christina’s parents put her up for adoption and she was taken in by a family hailing from the hills of Nimbin, Australia. The name of this girl is Kate Watts. Kate was home schooled spent most of her free time as a child singing along to her parent’s record collection. Kate was 14 when her father brought home their families first TV, video hits was the first program they watched and it was at this point Kate found out that contrary to her adopted parents beliefs, Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel were not the only musicians in the world. After this enlightening experience she told her parents she wanted to be a pop singer. This enraged her father who then threw her out of his house declaring that no daughter of his would be a corporate puppet. After weeks of struggling to get by, stealing food and sleeping on park benches, Kate realised that she could make enough money to survive from busking. Soon after this she met guitarist Al Watts (who is of no relation to her) and began traveling the country playing music.
During the late 80’s a group of insane record label executives ran a series of experiments in top secret facilities all over the world, their goal was to produce an army of super musicians who they would use to take over the world of music. They used the DNA of legends of different genres collected secretly over many years to clone human beings. Allan Watts was the result of an experiment using the DNA of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Marc Knopfler. The program was shut down in 1995 when details were made public. Having spent his entire life in a laboratory, Allan was left to fend for himself in a world he knew nothing of armed only with the clothes on his back and a Red Fender Stratocaster.
It is estimated that Aidan Bateman was born sometime in the in the early 50's, but no exact date is know. He was abandoned in the desert in Arizona where he was then taken in by a pack of wolves and raised by them. In 1960 he was found by a group of hunters who slaughtered his pack, this was his first encounter with other humans. The hunters took him in as one of their own, although he resisted at first. They showed him the ways of humans and slowly he adjusted to normal life, school was not easy for Aidan he was made fun of by the other children, they called him "Wolf Boy" not only because of his early childhood but because of his ability to grow a beard from the age of 10. Because of this Aidan needed something to help him escape, he found that in drumming at the age of 15. He would play for 15 hours a day and within 5 months he was playing professionally. Before joining The Blue Ruins he had played with and collaborated with over 5000 bands including The Beatles and Queen. He has also released over 60 solo albums.
The first thing that comes to mind when you watch a performance from Kate, Al and Wolfman is there’s nothing "ruined" about The Blue Ruins! So if you’re a lover of Dreadlocks, the use of science to produce super humans and beards get on board with The Blue Ruins.
