Karl Bray is a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist from Brighton and has recently recorded a session for legendary broadcaster Bob Harris for one of his ‘Under the Apple Tree’ sessions. Bob is best known for his BBC Radio 2 country show & presenter of The Old Grey Whistle Test.

Karl is to release his new album Rainbows August 2022. Previous singles Ain't Got Time and The Hand That Holds My Heart received airplay on BBC's The Big Country Show, Folk Scene with Mike Brocken, the legendary Radio Caroline and Londons Soho Radio amongst others.

The video for album title track Rainbows & previous stand-alone single, San Francisco was a collaboration with Mercury Music Prize nominee Ian Parton (The Go! Team).

Karl was also a founding member of electro rock band Kovak who were the first truly unsigned band to be play listed on BBC Radio 2, and were also featured on Los Angeles station KROQ along with a centre page spread in The Times. The band also had BBC 6 Music airplay with their first single 'I Love The Dancefloor'. Their music has appeared on TV shows & soundtracks for Hollywood films. 

Kovak’s music has been produced & remixed by respected producers including Youth, (Killing Joke, Paul McCartney), Andy Gray (Paul Oakenfold, Tori Amos) Dom Beken (Nick Masons Saucerful Of Secrets) and The Orb’s Andy Hughes.

After Kovak, Karl moved onto a solo project named The Boy Who Kicked Pigs. His first single was an acoustic cover of Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’, which was lauded by the song’s co-writer and vocalist Andy Bell also played on 6 Music by Lauren Laverne. 

Karl will play at this summers Maverick Festival July 2nd amongst other shows.
