I was living just across the Cemetery Park
Right between a comma and an exclamation mark
I was writing children stories all day long
And occasionally I would draw or write a song
Had an attic in a little mustard yellow house
Shared it with a Russian blue cat and an ugly mouse
A tram would pass under my window now and then
Otherwise it was a quiet place, I’d go again.

Cause I left, far, far away
I moved out, I couldn’t stay
Suddenly, I drove away
Right before Mother’s day

Now I live across an old pale yellow house
On an alley crossed occasionally by an ugly mouse
It’s a peaceful neighborhood, so they say
Now I’m sort of unemployed, but that’s ok
I don’t eat as much, I don’t go out at all
I pay no rent, my room is free and small 
A tram would pass now and then but I can’t hear a sound
In my small white coffin six feet underground

And I left, not far away
I moved out, I couldn’t stay
Just like that, I drove away
In the spring, round Mother’s day

I’d like to think that it’s all just an illusion
I wish it was another show on TV
Instead I’m swimming in a deeper confusion
Don’t know what end has all the hypocrisy

Maybe it’s time now
To turn off the people
Guess it is time now
To let ourselves go
Think it is time now
To live just a little
Yes it is time now
To have our own show

Let’s take the baby cars down to the river
So we’ll have less smoke on the streets of town
Before the sidewalks start to crumble and wither
Before the whole begins shutting us down

I’d like to think sometimes that I’m not awake
Cause all this nonsense would fit well in a dream
I choose not to be a ship, rather a wreck
If all the ships are taken down by the stream
