This is a freaky Cubase experiment where I looped the intro drum phrase from the Doobie Brothers song "Jesus is Just Alright with me", then layered in some early Tangerine Dream and some of the soundtrack from "2001:  A Space Odyssey" where HAL is trying to talk Dave out of shutting down his higher functions.

After several consecutive interviews with human friends, how about a break from linguistic communication; here is a multi-track experiment consisting of layers of humpback and other whale songs, assorted African animals, and assorted birds from Australia and New Zealand. Most communication on Mother Earth is non-linguistic.

ON THE BRINK RADIO #79 NON - VERBAL TALK RADIO EXPERIMENT #2

This is the soundtrack to our film "Te Waiwaia Dreaming" which is a short experimental piece consisting of footage of water shot in the northern territory of Australia, and three tracks spliced together:  "Aquatearoa Dreaming", with me playing grand piano, drums, and guitars;  'Man was in the forest', a cubase experiment I did using Dr. Fiorella Terrenzi's galaxy sounds, didge, Ligeti from the soundtrack to 2001 going backwards, and the voice of Bambi's mom saying "Man...was in the forest."   The humpback whale sounds are courtesy of Dr. Roger Payne and Ocean Alliance.

"Walking in Beauty"...the opening track from a jam we did in Christchurch in May of 2002 at Duke Dixon's studio near Oxford, which became the "First Ancestor" cd. Ian McAllister, who co-engineered and produced, had recommended Dukes because he had the nicest grand piano, a 100+ year old Steinway grand, and around $50,000 worth of mikes. I invited sax player and vocalist Carmel Courtney (formerly of Hampster), and drummer Redford Grennel (formerly of Shapeshifter); none of us had ever played together before. Later I added in the simple bass part (in later tracks James Wilkinson put in some 6-string fretless) and some spoken word by south island metaphysician Barry Brailsford. The phrase "walking in beauty" is an English translation of a Hopi word I once knew but cannot remember...but to have one word that meant that is very cool eh?

This is a techno-rap song I recorded in Boulder, Colorado in 1995.  I had just climbed one of the sacred mountains of the Navaho, Blanca Peak, or "Sis Naajini", meaning "home of the sky people."  I came back to Boulder and was immediately inspired to start researching trilobites, as well as to write this song, which picks up where the Dr. Seuss book leaves off.  Thanks to Dr. Dan Burns in Boulder for the use of his Strat.

This is a remix of a remix of a track I recorded with Ian McAllister in Christchurch in 2007.  The basic track was hand drums/percussion with synth bass and strings.  Ian did a freaky remix of it, I still have no idea what exactly he did.  Then I took his remix and added in some dialogue from an 80's sci-fi flilm called Colossus:  The Forbin Project, in which two military super-computers conjoin to create a super-cyber-intelligence who in obeyance to its imperative programming to eliminate war, restrained man in the process and thus became a total electronic dictator with control of all nuclear weapons.

This is another remix of Ian's remix of "The Day the Sky Stood Down" in which I used the voice of rebel geo-scientist and anti-nuclear activist Leuren Moret describing how ionizing radiation causes 'permanent brain damage' in the human population.  There's bits and pieces from 'The Twilight Zone' and "The Outer Limits" in there, as well as Godzilla's roar.  A bit insane...for a very insane topic.

06 The Day the Sky Stood Down (permanent brain damage bone seeker remix)

This track is from my first cd "The White Electric Dog Transmissions" and is inspired by all our friends and ancestors in the heavens above.  Who we once were, and shall again become?  This track is influenced to a degree by the star Sirius since I recorded this cd purposefully on the day of the Egyptian new year, 23 July, which is the day that Sirius comes out of having been invisible for 70 days in conjunction with the sun.  This day is known as the heliacal rising of Sirius and marked the beginning of the Egyptain new year and represented the rebirth of Isis and Osiris.

This is the last track of 'The White Electric Dog Transmissions" and is an expression of the feeling of being alone on a remote island and looking at the stars and heavens above and realizing how absolutely miniscule and insignificant we are...yet, we are all we've got.  Not an ode to existential malaise but a call for spiritual awakening to the gift of being here now on beautiful Mother/Spaceship Earth.

09 WEDT the insignificance of humanity

This is another freaky cubase experiment I did on Great Barrier Island New Zealand a few years ago.  It starts out with the opening drum beat from "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Stones, and some synth from Steve Miller;  add in some 'Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and Led Zeppelin "immigrant song" badkwards, then Aerosmith's drum beat from "Walk this way"...then for some vocals I serve from a fake McDonald's ad from Ad-busters and George W. Bush telling Iraqi veterans to "go home and die." What more could anyone possibly ask for in a hit single?
