The CarLeans are a newly formed collaboration of Jim Carpenter and Sarah MacLean.  Jim is known as the songwriter and lead singer of The Hoolios and Sarah shares the same roles for The MacLean Sisters, a duo with her twin sister, Rachel, for whom Jim plays guitar.

Jim and Sarah are the nucleus of the CarLeans as a performing duo, but it doesn't stop there.  Depending upon the venue and type of performance, members of both the Hoolios and MacLean Sisters band are enlisted to take the listener from the intimate ballads and two-part harmony of the duo, to a trio, quartet or quintet with rollicking cajun, americana and bluegrass rhythms . . . with the added instrumentation of guitars, mandolins, accordions and percussion.

Jim Carpenter's gruff vocals and percussive guitar style provides both a subtlety and driving force to Sarah MacLeans soulful voice.  The remarkable songwriting and vast repertoire of the duo lends as much credence to the performance as the musicianship.
