THE CHWEGER was established in 1997 in Pula, Croatia. The name derives from a local game, which could be described as something like a ‘knock(flick)-on-the-head’ – an important skill when the members were kids. 

After their highly acclaimed debut, The Chweger released their second album in October 2012 under the name ‘Mir’ for Aquarius Records.
It was recorded by Dejan Pavlinovic, Mauro Maretic, Alen Rosanda, Zoran Angeleski, Maja Griparic, with many guest appearances such as the legendary whistler from Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns Alessandro Alessandroni on the song 'Fuckam/The Whistler'. The album was recorded in Studio Partyzan in Pula from autumn 2010 until spring 2011, and was mixed in Metro studio Ljubljana. The producer for this album is again the reputable and awarded producer Edi Cukeric (Goribor, Hladno pivo, Gustafi, The Bambi Molesters, Darko Rundek, Nola, Dogma…). ‘Mir’ was mastered in London by Streaky Gee from Streaky Mastering (Moby, Death in Vegas, Groove Armada, Depeche Mode, Kasabian, Fatboy Slim, Snow Patrol). The new album introduces new sound elements such as a lot of electronic instruments, drum machines, sequencers and synthesizers, and even the iPhone was played! The lyrics are in Croatian, English, French and German. The CD design, artwork and photographs were produced by Mauricio Ferlin, whereas Hassan Abdelghani took the band photos. 
The word 'mir' means 'peace' in Croatian, whereas it is 'earth' in Russian.

THE CHWEGER  was established in 1997 in Pula, Croatia. The name derives from a local game, which could be described as something like a ‘knock(flick)-on-the-head’ – an important skill when the members were kids. 

Some notable live appearances include the support act for Calexico (Pula, Roman Theatre), the opening of the painting exhibition of the well-known painter Bojan Šumonja, three appearances at Art&Music festival (Pula), Rokaj Fest and KSET (Zagreb), Druga Pomoč (Ljubljana), as well as concerts in Istria and Rijeka. An important engagement was making a part of the music for the dance performance ‘The Gallery of Dead Women’ created by Slovenian dancers Maja Delak and Mala Kline. Three instrumental pieces from that performance are included on their first CD.

The first album ‘The Chweger’ was recorded by Mauricio Ferlin (vocal, guitar), Alen Rosanda (guitar, keyboards), Mauro Maretić (guitara, keyboards), Dejan Pavlinović (drums) and Zoran Angeleski (bass guitar), and it contains songs from a 10-year-long period, recorded during 2005 and 2006 in Pula, Medulin, Novo Mesto and Ljubljana. The album was released in June 2007. In 2008 it was nominated on the ‘Zlatna Koogla Awards’ for ‘Best Album of the Year’, ‘Band of the Year’, ‘Newcomer of the Year’ and ‘Producer of the Year’ (Edi Cukerić).
