The series begins with “Where Is The Moon?”, a track that sets the conceptual and emotional tone for what’s to follow. Featuring an exceptional vocal performance from The Velvet Effect, this first chapter is anything but typical. Opening with a bed of atmospheric textures, the track establishes a mood that feels expansive yet intimate — before The Velvet Effect’s vocals gradually emerge, adding depth and narrative weight that elevates the entire composition.

As the track unfolds, tight, stop-start melodic phrasing acts as the engine room, creating a feeling of suspension and anticipation. These intricate structures — paired with The Velvet Effect’s haunting delivery — guide the track into a beautifully restrained yet powerful drop. It’s a moment that feels less like a peak and more like a shift in dimension, marking the beginning of a larger journey through sound.

‘Where Is The Moon?’ is the gateway into ‘In Orbit’ — a thematic body of work built on trust, experimentation, and a deep understanding of each other’s musical language. As the ronin reached the road’s crest upon a windswept hilltop, the sight that met his eyes was not that of the bucolic streamside town that he had last passed through three seasons ago. The fields upon its outskirts lay fallow beneath the last rays of the late summer sun, and no livestock milled about before the houses that lay now shattered, their walls torn and thatched rooves thrown about as though by a great gale. At the town’s center, the roof of the humble temple had been rent asunder, revealing the careful miydaiku construction that had been the great pride of this town upon his last visit. 

As the ronin began to tread upon the town’s now desolate streets, he found himself assailed by an unearthly heat that seemed to sap the very earth of its vital energies. Produce lay shriveled and unharvested on the town’s vines, the pathway upon which he tread singed the bottom of his sandals, and as he drew his katana the steel blade shimmered as a mirage. Before him, upon the steps of the temple, lay the body of its faithful miko, her skin charred by rivulets of flame in a pattern the ronin knew all too well. Around him, the heat swelled, sucking the oxygen from the air. Above him, the ronin looked up to meet a sight he already knew to exist - the great canine head of a hellhound, emblazoned with a talisman that bore the singular character of destruction and inscribed with the singular disjointed stroke pattern that could only be wrought by a malevolent kami’s hand.

EATBRAIN’s ronin warrior SCREAMARTS returns to the label with HELLHOUND, an EP cultivated from the artist’s distinct sonic palette and honed to deliver a four-track canticle of hellish sonics to the hungry ears of the EATBRAIN horde.

After consuming the primeval energies of an entire planetoid, the gargantuan interstellar being had wandered the stars for a time. At its core churned the life forces of one trillion beings, subsumed and intertwined by the nature of its interdimensional existence. The singularity of consciousness that lay at its core was thus one of cacophony & discord, as those of strongest will that still clung to some faint inkling of individuality sought to exert their influence over all others, pushing upwards amidst the maddening din of psychic energy and drowning those beneath them in turn.

In willful ignorance of the chaos that churned within it, the great being had come to rest in the orbit of a distant star, beginning a hibernation that would last for eons as the life that raged within began to slowly seep to the surface. Thus came new life upon the surface of the beings slumbering body, born from the original images of all that which the behemoth had consumed and wrought into entirely new forms by the crucible at its core. In an age to come, the being would wake again, consuming the distant ancestors of the life that it had now born into existence. For the current age, its duty had been fulfilled - the cycle of DIVERGENCE had been carried out once more.

EATBRAIN unveils DIVERGENCE VI, the latest entry in the label’s compilation series which celebrates the diverse and devastating breadth of their artist’s sound. His sets walk through the styles, from commercial to barely known, from Pop EDM to hybrid and experimental, with the purpose of breaking concepts and joining music styles together. In an unstoppable search for new influences, he has deep roots in trap and dubstep, adding a little bit of future beats, footwork and other unlabeled styles, but always looking forward for the low frequences.

The Clamps, born Julien Carbou, is a French Drum & Bass producer and DJ established in Toulouse. Since starting his music career through several musical projects in the late 90s, he has become known for his unique and heavy sound that blends elements of Drum & Bass, Techno, and Industrial Music.

With a string of releases on respected labels such as Trendkill Records, Kosen Production and Eatbrain, The Clamps has established himself as a prominent figure in the Drum & Bass scene. His music is characterized by its intricate sound design, intense energy, and expertly crafted basslines that have earned him a dedicated following.
