Within the catacombs lay an artifact from a primordial age, untouched by the ravages of time under the protection of the magical wards that surrounded it and sealed within a series of hidden chambers and mazelike passages filled with untold horrors and traps that would deter even the most determined of invaders. The extent of this labyrinth was necessitated by the twin opposing powers represented by the artifact and its resting place, each capable of causing untold destruction should they be unleashed upon the world without being kept in check by the other. As such, the pair had been frozen in time this way for millennia, a lasting warning of the old powers that were better left unawakened.

In cataclysms that created the world, beings of unrestrained primordial energy roamed the land and constantly reshaped it to their will amidst a never-ending chaos of destruction. Those minor beings who hid beneath their feet had little recourse against the incursions of these beasts, and even should one be felled by their greatest of warriors it would only be reborn again from within the heart of the primordial chaos. So it was that the most skilled mages & craftsmen among them toiled for generations to create a blade that could pierce this endlessly beating heart, and bring tranquility to this world that had suffered under chaos for so long. Thus it was that the wards had been set and that the great labyrinthine temple had been constructed, for as the blade pierced the heart of all primordials it did further seal their power within the wound, so requiring that it may never be removed again lest it let their power spill forth into the world once more. To truly murder beings of such power, the ancestors had learned, one must hold the blade within their viscera for all eternity.

NUVERTAL after a brief appearance on Gydra’s album delivers his debut EATBRAIN release onto the ears of the label’s horde with REAL MURDER, an EP featuring three solo tracks and a collaborative work with EATBRAIN veterans GYDRA. Within, NUVERTAL brings a set of sonics that surge upon the oscillations of the EP’s electrified synths, fusing finely honed highs with devastatingly weighted basses for a work that is ready to energize the monstrous hearts of the EATBRAIN horde.

For our 20th release, we are thrilled to celebrate the success of Skrimor. We have carefully hand-picked producers to remix some of his previous releases on the label.

First up, Mythic Image offers their take on the electrifying ‘Gas’, a track that has been shaking sound systems globally since its release. With heavy drums and piercing basslines, they expertly put their stamp on an already incredible tune, elevating it to new heights.

Next, we have the Spanish duo Dub Elements with their remix of ‘Blow’. Turning the track on its head, their powerful remix is a testament to their production expertise and compelling energy.

Third, Irish-born Anark and Axon Records label manager Hkay present their interpretation of ‘Mitrafly’. Taking the original deeper into the realms of tech, they deliver driving drums, rolling basslines, and lush melodies. As two members of the collective Retribution Audio, they have truly made the track their own.

For the fourth track, Ozma takes us on a journey with his reimagining of ‘Last Wish’. Earth-shaking drums and potent basslines define this piece. Pushing the release to its limits, he expertly captures the raw energy of the original and channels it masterfully.

Finally, coming off their latest release on Axon Records, we have Hystatus. Their remix of ‘Longshift’ is proof that they have truly mastered their craft. With expertly crafted drums, dynamic basslines, and beautiful melodies, they round off the release perfectly.

MANBEARPIG carries a swagger dripping with pure and deliberately paced attitude, whilst SHUT DOWN (feat. COPPA) rides on a fast-moving bassline and percussive flurry. French drum & bass producer The Clamps has become more and more of an identifiable force, with his forthcoming EP on veteran Prolix’s Trendkill Records quickening his pace to the top echelons. The Clamps production has often been an enviable trait, something which the artist has been refining over the past few years; this hasn’t gone unnoticed by the heaviest hitters within drum & bass, which is why he came under the radar of Prolix. And The Clamps fits well within Prolix’s growing arsenal of producers, something which the head honcho has also spent years refining. When it comes to the genre’s darker sounds, Trendkill is a go-to imprint, dominating both charts and DJ sets during its expansion. With a host of main-stay labels already ticked off by Prolix himself, it made sense for him to build a musical hub which highlighted the sounds influencing his own output.

Since the late 90s, The Clamps has spent his time pouring over the intricacies of everything from hard techno to drum & bass. After initially making a name for himself on homegrown label Kosen Production, he’s become more and more of a pivotal figure throughout the wider music circuit. Now having released on imprints such as Invisible, Titan, Eatbrain and Impact Music, his forthcoming ‘I Feel’ EP is a return to form, following the explosion of his ‘The Odyssey’ LP in 2018.

First track ‘No Reality’ creates an intro which is instantly encapsulating with its steppy instrumentals and patches of waif-like samples. Once it drops, through its pounding drum stabs, you’re taken directly into the belly of the best. Title-track ‘I Feel’ is just as chaotic, tearing through with robotic vocal interludes. ‘Mind Exploration’ runs through next, with an old-school reminiscing as you’re yet again released against its manic mechanics. ‘Interaction’ is the final track, foreboding as it begins to wheel you towards its first climatic breakdown. Each punching horn takes you in deeper before its sci-fi atmospherics leave you to its driving ferociousness.

Trendkill Records are back, with help from The Clamps - proving that the next year is titled to be one of their biggest yet.

The remnants of the great battle lay strewn as shreds across the meadow, the multi-faceted carcass of a climatic moment of a conflict long forgotten. The remains of those who had fought for their respective worthless causes now overshadowed by the bleak visage of fate. Legends spoke of the battle as the only one known to have occured with no victor. Each warrior slain on one side was said to be repaid by the death of his equal on the other, as though the melee was arbitrated by some unnatural force. At the battle’s termination there remained none but the two great leaders of the factions, who continued their personal onslaught through the strength of their intense hatred alone. Amongst the corpses of their compatriots they dueled, equally matched in both skill and fury and finally, equally they fell, each slipping his opponent’s guard in the same instant, as both felt their sword plunge through the other’s heart. The place was twice cursed it was told, once by the unnatural force that had presided over the slaughter, and once by the slaughter itself. Unlike most of their kind, these legends held truth, for this field was the lair of the malevolent AGRESSOR.

The being had lurked there from time immemorial, its existence a relic of a long forgotten age. Condemned to this waste for its timeless aggression, it had lingered on beyond the disappearance of its kind. Its hunger for anguish lured countless warriors to its meadow, their conflict a delectable feast for the spirit unseen. From each fallen fighter was riven its emotion, strengthening the being as it continued to feed. The magnitude of the battle had sated it for some time, and it would slumber again through multiple ages of man until that hunger arose once again… and when it did, the DEATH MEADOW would lure souls afresh.

The Clamps, born Julien Carbou, is a French Drum & Bass producer and DJ established in Toulouse. Since starting his music career through several musical projects in the late 90s, he has become known for his unique and heavy sound that blends elements of Drum & Bass, Techno, and Industrial Music.

With a string of releases on respected labels such as Trendkill Records, Kosen Production and Eatbrain, The Clamps has established himself as a prominent figure in the Drum & Bass scene. His music is characterized by its intricate sound design, intense energy, and expertly crafted basslines that have earned him a dedicated following.
