The eyes of the living only greeted each new day because of the immortal techniques that had now been passed to them, the new guardians of the beacon, masters of an art now evolved – watching, waiting, perfecting their deadly art… ready for the return of those beyond death.

Following up the immensely successful Karate LP from core Eatbrain artist L 33, comes a deadly second approach to some of the most blinding tracks from the album - reimagined by a collection of apex predators in drum & bass. The pilot quickly glanced either side of the cockpit, peering out through the oil-stained reinforced glass that separated him from the thick clouds of the permasmog that he and his fellow skykillers were now gliding through. Death’s whisper rode quietly on their tails, the promise of a further step into the unending cycle of violence as irresistible to it as the concept of the freshly slain under its ivory digits. The pilot had acquired a sense for its presence, drawing fierce consciousness as mortality skewered him viciously against the present. In a moment, they soared out of the thick wall of pollution and the skies lit up with stark abruptness as plumes of burning oil billowed from his brothers’ vehicles, their screams and burning skin engulfed by the rapid fractal destruction of their mechanisms. Death screamed with wild abandon at his hind, as he slammed a nitropellet into the furnace and smashed the rapid start of his engine. The propeller whirled immediately into action, rocket thrusters firing and pushing him deep into his seat as the steam snaked through his nose ventricle and he became intertwined with his infernal engine, enveloping him in its toxic carnage. His hand moved to the bomb-bay switch, doors opening and a stack of murder rolling outside with the reaper swift behind, ready to collect the souls of the sunworshippers below, the infidel for whom the power of the perpetual engine is forever beyond.

Untold millennia of annihilation lay in the wake of the abomination. Its timeless reach stretched across countless generations through fables of its legacy. The deep tremor of each ruthless touch it lay upon mankind’s destiny cast a long and terrible shadow through the many lives denied, the many stories that would remain forever untold. The flesh of each man’s future, torn by early entropy, reduced to dust – vitality joining the dank earth and with each that fell sank the lives of children that would never be. The horror had no name, born of pure, ill anger – a hate filled spirit without a shred of love, save for that which it carried for its brother, death. Waiting for the meaningless rivalries of man to erupt in war, it wakes at the brink of battle, feeding from fear and the cruel hearts of men as they wait with nervous agitation at the edge of slaughter. Long had rumors abounded of places where the veil between worlds was thin, where one could walk into other planes as though simply stepping into their own home. Such points of crossing were said to be rare, and the few that occurred naturally were secrets well kept by those who knew of their location for they held the potential for immense power in their shimmering surfaces. Each such point was said to be guarded by a Keeper, unknowable beings from neither side of the threshold who kept watch over all that passed through, their existence proven only by the remains of those deemed unworthy that lay before their lairs. 

For one who possessed apt knowledge of such places, passage through such portals was indeed possible with proper preparation. On rare occasions, when the energies of the earth rested in perfect balance, such portals would appear in the most isolated portions of the world. Those who could foresee this would wait patiently in such places for the day of crossing, preparing themselves for this most unlikely of opportunities. In focused ritual they would etch symbols into the gate’s position, warding them from the Keeper’s wrath. As the portal appeared they would take the momentous single step into the beyond, striding confidently into a world unknown as they passed through THE DOOR.

EATBRAIN veteran L 33 returns to the label with his next solo EP, THE DOOR, as he continues to champion his energetic tech focused sound on the like minded label. With a legacy built on EATBRAIN across releases such as 2016’s Karate LP & a slew of further EPs on the label, THE DOOR carries on in this tradition with four tracks emblazoned with powerful sonic presence by the longtime EATBRAIN collaborator.

DisasZt has proven his weight within the drum & bass world through a variety of projects, one of which is managing one of Europe’s biggest drum & bass nights, Mainframe. As well as DJing and producing, he has brought thousands of fans through the doors of Vienna’s most illustrious venues, pulling together line ups which hand pick the absolute best of the 170bpm genre from around the world. Yet more recently it has been his own music which has caught people’s attention, the same records he has played out in his DJ sets; the live performances which have also seen him perform across the European continent. He has been able to infect his work with the same energy and enthusiasm he has shown time and time again through Mainframe, now both an events brand and record label. And it’s also the home of DisasZt’s own productions, including his forthcoming release 
‘Tigerlily’ and ‘Synco’. 
With over one hundred releases in Mainframe’s catalogue, DisasZt continues the imprint’s meteoric rise through this release. ‘Tigerlily’ is the record’s a-side, moving away from the more mainstream build of a dark drum & bass intro and instead going for a different approach. With quickly flitting beats acting as steppingstones into its first breakdown, its sudden break leaves you drowning in layers of bass heavy distortion, punctuated by strings of melody. On the reverse ‘Synco’ carries on the assault, with siren-like atmospherics adding an urgency whilst tapping notes stab through its slicing drums. Its first breakdown drives you directly through the twisting groove of each hook, which creates the energy DisasZt is renowned for during his DJ sets.

If there was a time to be aligned to the sounds of the clubbing world it would be now. More than ever, we need to be reminded of the dancefloor and why we love the explosiveness of drum & bass music in a live setting. DisasZt’s single certainly helps to do this.

With a quarter century of releases already passed, I felt it’s time to look back on the story of our label so far and celebrate with you all with this compilation of our best selling, best streaming and most critically acclaimed tracks to date.

The Clamps, born Julien Carbou, is a French Drum & Bass producer and DJ established in Toulouse. Since starting his music career through several musical projects in the late 90s, he has become known for his unique and heavy sound that blends elements of Drum & Bass, Techno, and Industrial Music.

With a string of releases on respected labels such as Trendkill Records, Kosen Production and Eatbrain, The Clamps has established himself as a prominent figure in the Drum & Bass scene. His music is characterized by its intricate sound design, intense energy, and expertly crafted basslines that have earned him a dedicated following.

With a discography spanning over a decade, The Clamps continues to push the D&B boundaries and remains a significant force in the genre. His music is celebrated for its raw energy, technical precision, and forward-thinking approach, making him a must-see act for fans of the genre.

Aside from his solo work, he has set up different musical projects such as Burr Oak (with Opsen), Forum (with Opsen & SKS) and Third Colony (with Deerhill) to express himself in different musical journeys.
