The Accent Collective was created in 2014 to support and challenge The Conservatoire’s most talented music students. Curated by Bethan Scolding, the year-long programme of performances, projects and masterclasses encourages creativity and artistic development, with members taking an active role in shaping a range of projects. 

The Accent Collective is a free programme available to any music student at The Conservatoire, through tutor recommendation and audition. The programme is a vital component of our music department, which is committed to offering meaningful access and quality at every age and level, from beginners to those with the potential to enter the profession. 

Accent Collective - Sound Prism Soundscape

The Conservatoire is Blackheath's local independent arts centre. Each week we provide a broad mix of music, art, drama and cultural classes to over 1,200 people between the ages of 0 to 90!

We were founded in 1881 by William Webster, who also founded the Blackheath Halls. Together, the three Grade II listed buildings make up the oldest surviving purpose built multi-arts complex in London.

We aim to be the area's central creative hub, where people from across a range of ages and backgrounds come together to share in the transformative experience of making art and music.
