The Parallax Score System is a networked score system targeted at the web-browser. It is a multi-nodal server managed network. Each performer’s browser is a node in the system, the performer’s scores are tightly synchronised with one another over the network. In a traditional top down hierarchical mode a master/director control interface has individual control over each of the scores.

Manku l’okki ppi kkjanciri is a solo voice and electronics piece, operated by a live score, which was developed in the aim of conjugating a clear and manageable audio-visual interface with a set of non-conventionally notated instructions and a certain degree of unpredictability in terms of the sequence of events: this arrangement eventually mirrors a series of consecutive adjustments and collaborative negotiations between me and the performer Lauren Redhead, to whom this piece is also dedicated.

Mick and Alistair welcome you to this exciting and pioneering AHRC funded project exploring the Digital Score and the potential transformations to scoring / instruction sets for musical and transmedia compositions.

The aim of the project is not to produce a canon of works that celebrate the use of digital technologies within composition but rather to allow composers who are using such technologies the opportunity to explore the how these technologies integrate into the score / instruction set within a research orientated supportive framework.

We are calling for composers and researchers who wish to engage in research into a particular issue within the Digital Score as an artefact and are looking to support the composition of formative works, fragments or themes from larger works or experimental pieces that problematise a particular aspect of composing a digital score.
