Friday Feel Good Quick Mix for May 31…

This Friday Feel Good Quick Mix was featured on MiamiBass.FM‘s Memorial Day Mix Weekend. Fry Weezie mixed Bass Hits from the East to the West Coast and put it all together in a 1 hour mix. A Friday Feel Good Shout Out went out to DJ Pinky and Tello for inviting me to hang out at Gringo’s Cantina over Memorial Weekend. DJ Pinky was mixing the best of old school and took me back to Pepper’s and Quite Cannon days when Clubs were live and the music was Feel Good. I sure miss those days. At the end of the mix, we spoke about Rodney O and Joe Cooley Collaborating with Vanilla Ice on his album, Mind Blowin’ in  1994. Rodney O and Joe Cooley worked on 10 tracks on the album and gave it a west coast flavor. Unfortunately, the album did not chart, and received unfavorable reviews. It has since received some degree of cult status in the hip hop community. Some consider this Vanilla Ice’s best work.

While surfing Souncloud, This so Call "DJ Fresh P" stole my mix that posted on my site years ago. I find that funny, but give credit where credit is due. I love the fact that it did so well... lol....  
Note: This was recorded in early 2000′s before Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson’s Passing. 

New Jack Swing or should I say “Swang” Mix. Super producer, Teddy Riley, is credited for creating this genre of music that changed the game. With this new sound, he was one of top producers for artist of the 90′s era. As a member and producer for his group “Guy”, along with fellow members Arron Hall and his brother Damion Hall, They manage to create a new style of R & B with there self title album “Guy”. The album went Triple Platinum in 1988. With the success of the New Jack Swing along came the copy cat producers, AKA Dr. Dre, trying to tap into this pot of gold, but that was not Dr Dre’s style. Later down the years, it was Dr. Dre’s turn to shine with his Gagsta Hits and production. Teddy Riley produced many recording artist in the 90′s including The King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Dangerous remains the most successful New jack swing album of all time with 32 million copies sold. Just a little history of New Jack Knowledge. With that said, here is my New Jack Swing Mix. Everybody loves a disco gram or two, wink wink, but Spanish label DiscoGram is also a sign of a good time. The main label has put out more than 30 juicy tunes but here they launch a new sub-series, again with the in-house production team at the helm. 'Linda' kicks it off with bright, extroverted and slightly camp disco energy and diva vocals. 'Pages' is a slinky strider with a pained vocal bringing the soulful heat and offering a hugely impressive falsetto crescendo. 'Tabaco Y Ron' gets more florid with its Latin flutes and rhythmic vocal coos, then 'Xulipa' ends with swooning strings and a graceful air of disco cool with some recognizable vocal hooks.

I personally don't think this song has ever changed for a lot of people in this world. Written and performed in the 70s with a message of change and it is 2020 and nothing really has. I have done this edit for any DJ that wants to play this in their sets to remind people of the importance of change.
