A tougher side of these hard edged underground bad boys kicks off the proceedings to the sequel of the 2 sets. The darker vibe is unleashed and pounds its way again with a one in and one out pattern. Every single mix on both recordings always mix into the other............. no Tidy tunes into another tidy tune and vise versa.

Of course there is a build up as the mix hurtles towards the end but generally speaking, pt2 is the evil brother to pt1......... perfectly complementing each other!!! No prisoners taken here!!!!

Of course there is a build up as the mix hurtles towards the end but generally speaking, this is the light side and pt2 is the dark side!!

NUKLEUZ VS TIDY TRAX PT1 (The Lightside)

Another one of those trips through an archive, this time not vinyl but through a very large and varied CD wallet. 

Before USB or even mp3 was a thing, the cutting edge of DJ mixing technology was the compact disk. 10(ish) tunes on one CD alongside a copy of the same tunes on another blank disk, to enable mixing those tunes on the first disk. 

It sounds crazy now but it was like this for a long time before the digital revolution completely changed the way we use media and storing it.

O.C.D is a tribute to those hazy days of the Naughties. Every single tune selected here holds a special place in DJ EGG's heart for one reason or another. An incredibly huge part of the rich tapestry developed with passion and dedication........ 

The CD wallet holds the key to the past, unlocked and ready to share with you guys. As usual, each track is programmed to complement the various styles of the hard house sound. There is a very energetic and uplifting feeling throughout!!!

Anyone who was around back then, especially all the clubbers and rave family members, will have a nostalgic trip out to this!!! For anyone new to these sounds, welcome to the future past!!!

A sense of real fun digging up these gems, some real hard hitters!! Loved those days and the CD archive will now never be forgotten, the old skool immortalized with a modern slant..........

A very much passion project, this music is close to my heart. I like to call it the teacher becuse it keeps you on those toes unlike any other hard dance genre bad boy out there. It is technical as much as emotional!

This was a perfect opportunity to showcase this amazing style. Haunting and beautiful, Freeform (trance-core) is a raver's delight!! If you like your dance music full on and proper stomping, then this mix will wet your whistle!!!

RECORDED COMPLETELY WITH VINYLS ON A MASSIVE DESKTOP COMPUTER WITH A HUGE MONITOR THAT HAD TO TRANSPORTED FROM TOP FLOOR OF A FLAT ALL THE WAY OVER TO MY PLACE WHICH WAS HARDER WORK THAN IT IS THESE DAYS FOR A START LOL!! 

BEFORE I MADE THIS IT WAS ALL ABOUT RECORDING ON TAPES, WAS JUST THE NORM BACK THEN, I HAD NO IDEA THAT MIXES COULD BE DONE IN SUCH A TECHNICALLY ADVANCED WAY, IT WAS A REAL TURNING POINT WHEN THINGS BECAME MORE SERIOUS & STEPPED UP A LEVEL FOR SURE. MY FRIEND WHO BECAME MY SOUND ENGINEER, MEANT WE WERE SORTED BY WORKING AS A TEAM TO PRODUCE SOMETHING SPECIAL THROUGH MY MUSICAL SKILLS & HIS COMPUTER LOGIC. 

This mix was also to serve as a promo to hand out cds with the flyer on the cover for my first ever gig that i held in a club, 2003 seems so long ago!! We must have burned hundreds & handed them out, seemed to work because i ended up gaining a residency through this at a weekly night at a different club after the promoter was impressed with my efforts.

A vinyl mix from 2003, full of classic hard house & hard trance full on timeless bangers, packed into this old school early mix recorded as a promo to hand in for TASTE - the new hard club night in Aberdeen that at the time was looking for new djs to become residents or get involvement with the vibe that TASTE was creating, keeping the scene alive. A very positive opportunity for a young 20 year old DJ EGG to gain club experience, getting more established & ultimately stepping up potentially to have dream come true dj passion realised with a solid weekly club night, respected by the clubbers with big name artists & decent events with good turnouts - A MUST for him to nail down a place. Here is the mix that opened a door to his first resident gig in a club, a very proud achievement which ignited a club dj experience that started off here on this older vinyl mix, at beginning of historic musical moments captured in time, a step along the path of beats and bass lines - welcome to back in the day guys

After recently getting sky installed, I was watching cult 80s horror movie "Evil Dead" & had an idea - using just a few minutes of specific recorded material from the film, I would fuse together a pioneer cdj mix with wave-lab software complete re-edited, sampled, spliced, chopped & manipulated version that is my unique production. I wanted to fully add an extra dimention & tell a story that genetically fused into the musical fabric of the mix!!! Story line is based on the film, with a unique slant & freeform energetic twist.........

Recorded from 5th November 2007 half mixed with VINYL on Technics mk5g  & rest on Pioneer CDJ 100mk2, a time of transition that was another quirk to layer a different slant - PYROTECHNICS delivers An uplifting, high energy, full on belter of a hard dance set that works its way through the hardhouse spectrum, the filth-o-metre scale has a low threshold to start proceedings, opting with an amazing tune on Riot "Beckers - Switch" a big track at the time & is perfect for take off - full of wonderful purpose & has a direct intention to hook in those aural receptors, this tone & mood is guided into a slightly less full power all systems go vibe, paced to programme an emotional melodic breath back calm down a touch but do not fret - drops the kick it level & fires into that hard trance tidy 2 drop that natural hard trance feel good energy, the energy becomes more heavy & starts to drop into the hardhouse slam jams, of course filth-o-meter notches up exactly when required getting a 10 on the scale by the end, perfectly administered when needed to be ramped up but the final 2 tunes brings the scale down to a less filthy nrg to finish off the piece taking "the Dawn - Tony De Vit" Karim's mix that is a driving bass infused pumping tune fitting into a twist for the end nice, the final track is a Nukleuz tune which is actually hard trance but, please don't Judge because my Vinyl collection & also wav file singles archive is extensively large, spending thousands in the process, anyway I used this tune which my mate had in his wallet, how it happened no idea but it recorded or down loaded at a 170bpm when the pitch was at 0 so I thought it was a freeform tune which I had only started playing, it is at that bpm btw, dropped it to finish off completely on a different dimension - little did I know it was not freeform but again it works & adds to the charm created through out so hope u are ready to be tickled by a tune frenzy -

This event had an excellent line up to celebrate such a fantastic occasion with 3 different arenas & each a separate entity graced on the decks by  legends such as Anne Savage, Graeme Park, Amber D & of course the Tidy Boys, with a large slice of future hero action from Digital Mafia, General Bounce, Unit 13 & Andy Styles. Also a selection of local djs hand picked for a gathering of musical minds, a proper spectrum, really enjoyed the experience - was a pleasure to meet new faces & ace to catch up with other freinds (DIGITAL MAFIA - bus journey home, class!!)

To sum up -

The first freeform mix in a good while, is proudly presented with a huge respect to all the guys who have been involved with this label - real talented producers who just continue to push this genre forward with every release. 

No track list - instead I have decided to have a detailed account into the reasons why & how it came to be!!

After purchasing the tunes from the last year or so to catch up & complete my back catalogue - including the limited cd releases "Do you have the Stamina? & Transcend's amazing album Synaesthesia" true quality with quantity adding to a vast library of tracks for both the mix & general archive. (the Freeform Family cd is in my collection but came along to late for this mix - next time though)

A tribute indeed - over 2 hours of pure energetic, furious, full on, flat out, bass line terror, spacey trance break downs, unique, diverse, cutting edge, fast as hell, hardcore with a twisted identity called freeform!!! My selection of Stamina choons from 2015 mixed & mashed with pure love to showcase this amazing music, bringing all my skills.

Mixed using older cdjs 1000mk2 on pure vinyl emulation (as always) with no auto cue or sync buttons, working hard on technique & the execution of every aspect - including re-edits in post production to give a real extra dimension where needed, intro, outro, power mixing, fx, cuts, stabbing beats with full flavour, loops, bass changing on more than one occasion to bring a different stylised energetic injection - pushing the limits by letting dj imagination run wild, artistic flow at peak power!!

Inspiration is a massive part of my mixing theory - both ways are important & this mix is motivated by music that has had a huge impact on me over the years, I aim to show exactly how much with this work - aiming to inspire others in the process & hopefully doing the Stamina crew, freeform heads & anyone who has a passion for the hard side PROUD!!!

MATT PASSED AWAY EARLIER THIS YEAR & WHILST REFLECTING ON THIS SAD NEWS, I HAD A LOOK ALTHOUGH WITH A HEAVY HEART, THROUGH SOME OLD ARCHIVES OF MEDIA TO REMEMBER HIM & THE GOOD OLD DAYS........ I HAVE UNEARTHED A VERY SPECIAL RECORDING!!!!!!

BACK IN 2010, THIS ABSOLUTE FLAT OUT & HARD AS NAILS MIX WAS RECORDED.......... 

From my personal vinyl collection, I had a record box that I dubbed  "Skinner's box" which was home to all my hard style & techno that was right up his street at the time. Then we basically decided to go through this box of hard style darkness & chunky hard tech beats with a mind set of no messing about - lets go for it!!! 

This mix is really fast, really hard & really shows our potential with all the trimmings!!! I am so glad to present this to you guys because although myself & Matt had not spoke for a number of years, our friendship had broken down - we were not seeing eye to eye but with tragic events that had unfolded it put things into prospective for me!! 

This is a wee tribute & an opportunity to say goodbye the only way I know how. Our love for music brought us together & now will forever be in spirit, with a bad boy mix, a meeting of minds 7 years ago at my flat, a fitting way to show off our good times with a recording I had thought was lost to time..........

After a quick intro we find ourselves diving deep into a hard trance sound lashing an up tempo energy which gives the first statement of intent to the direction this mix will take. It changes into a much heavier trance atmosphere plunging us sharply with no hesitation with really solid low end belters. When we least expect it, that hard trance sound kicks back in until half way through. Then a hard house environmental change with epic vocals & hands in the air bad ass sounds are dropped in like a freight train to kick it up a gear. Finishing this journey we sink the foot to speed up the BPMs adding NRG & epic hoover riffs - this mix finishes with a boom!!

WIGGLE WARRIORS UNITE

At 15 years old his DJ journey had began although his love for dance music was born years before, at the age of 11 he found Hardcore & never looked back. His passion for dance music grew & before  long he saved up himself for a set of Numark decks & a cheap mixer, going on to teach himself how to play & dedicated his time & money to his art, it was clear by age 18 it was a matter of time before a night club came calling.

Trance music was the biggest influence & is still such an important part of his sound - the foundations were laid!! 

After playing a few gigs at a local club in a town outside Aberdeen, The Craigmile hotel was the first venue he played at. At age 21, DJ EGG had now found Hard house & quickly became part of the scene. Meeting influential people who would go on to give him a residency, 

He became a regular at Taste night club then went on to run nights every weekend. Taste was a real learning curve & a baptism of fire. 

Setting out to bring cutting edge music & DJs to Aberdeen has been his mission & still is - he introduced Technikal, Barry Diston, Paul Glazby, Ilogik - & many others. With a mind set that is all about the music, he continues to seek out the sound that will change & evolve Aberdeen's clubbing mantra - not always easy but it is a worthy cause.
