Journeyman - Poem tribute to my daughter Summer and the gift that is to be your father.

Lyrics:

Once, I had a girl.
I brought her flowers—
she gave me joy.

We were young and curious,
so time went by.

From firefly hunting—words can't describe—
to landscapes and mind-blowing sunsets!

That time chasing... running after what?
Good times... good times.

We were sworn to fight the good fight,
together until the end.

Through the lens of imagination,
those staring eyes just shined,

as I presented her to the world and wonders
unseen—until then.

She held up strong and decided—
it was our victory war cry.

She gave me the sword, and with courage,
we fought side by side.

The battles were hard.
Many victories and losses later...
the moments...
all of them.

Finally, the world—we’d conquered it.

She had now made me into a dreamer,
to rest the sword,
to think bigger.

I could never have imagined what was to come—
from lovers to fighters,
hills and river turns,
from dreamer to what I would then become.

We’d conquered ourselves.
A treasure, apparently, arrives
after all the seasons have passed.

She whispers these words to me:

"Priceless summer, the one to hold on tight.
It's not about summertime, but the one that will
now make you a knight."

Speechless, confused—
I found myself on my knees nonetheless...

“It’s your Princess,” she then said.

I couldn’t believe my eyes.
And happy—pure happiness—it was.

Yes, before the knight, a man.
And he just cried.

“That’s our treasure.
Look back at our journey,
then appreciate the moment.”

Floating in it,
still.

I'm writing this letter—

to light your way back home at night,
to warm your heart if ever you need to cry,
to embrace you with kindness if lonely you may feel,
to remind you of us, of her, of time.
And that time...
time always heals.

I was once a lover,
a passionate adventurer.

I went from fighter to knight,
from dreamer to king—
the king of my own life.

That is what it means
to be a father.
