Veronica "Not-Like-The-Other-Girls" Mars was a trip! In a good way! -em

i agree with that, she often acts like that but imo it feels like a normal teenage girl thing to do, especially in the era the show came out. It might have just been my own reading of the character and not intentional on the writers' part but it always felt normal from her. like she's got internalized misogyny to work through.

the way she treats weevil gets even more frustrating in season 4. and it's a shame the writers never acknowledged her hypocritical tendencies. And like in 4 they acknowledge her trauma and that it made her messed up but they never make her at least make it up to Weevil and that was disappointing

as much as i love season 4 (my favourite since season 1) there were a lot of issues that should have been critiqued but weren't because of the shitstorm caused by the shippers mad at Logan dying.

The Wonder Years was one of the most iconic shows for younger GenX and older Millenials, a series where, through the eyes of an initially 12 year old, middle-class suburban white boy, we get a glimpse at life growing up in the late 60s and early 70s. This risky reboot does the exact same thing… with a protagonist growing up in Montgomery, Alabama. The Wonder Years doesn’t just deal with the typical issues of a pre-teen boy, but the greater issues of a highly segregated America. So is the bold new, melanated series any good?
