Bryan Ferry’s most recent musical odyssey came in the form of 2014’s critically acclaimed
Avonmore album, now the LP gets some very special remix treatment by a connoisseur selection
of disco artists from around the globe. The celebrated and taste-making likes of Leo Zero, Ray Mang, Prins
Thomas, Justin Robertson, Leftside Wobble, Idjut Boys, Man Power and many more all lend their
well trained ears and serve up some sizzling new versions of the superb originals.

Bryan Ferry is one of the UK’s foremost singer songwriters, a pop artist and musician whose
appeal has spanned five decades. With his elegant virtuoso performances as the
front man Roxy Music, and his subsequent illustrious solo career Ferry has achieved numerous
accolades and has been a great source of influence and inspiration for
ensuing generations of musicians. As such, a project like this allows some of these established and rising talents the
unique opportunity to add their own spin to Ferry’s singular style.

A broad palette of sounds, scenes and genres are traversed along the course of this absorbing
collection. It kicks off in style with two different versions of ‘Loop Di Li’. Leo Zero’s take is sun-kissed and breezy, 
with trilling riffs and sweeping synths. UK disco don Ray Mang then offers a
more pumping, groove driven effort that wraps Ferry’s unique vocals up in neo-Balearic cool.
Next up, the marvellous ‘Midnight Train’ is offered as a late night and romantic affair by Johnson
Somerset, a cosmic chugger by Man Power and a characteristically left of centre house version
by the inimitable Idjut Boys, famed for being remix kings.

Fans of dubbed out and slo-motion disco will love the brilliant Beard of Concern mix of ‘Soldier of
Fortune,’ before five fascinating versions of ‘Driving Me Wild’ take in lush 80s nostalgia,
swaggering dub, mechanical psychedelic disco, horizontal grooves and elastic kosmiche from
Johnson Somerset, Leftside Wobble, Justin Roberton’s Deadstock 33s, Leo Zero and Ray Mang
respectively.

The latter half of the album finds nu-disco pioneer Prins Thomas masterfully flip the title track into
a broody affair with corrugated bass and tense, scintillating synth lines, whilst PBR Streetgang
work ‘One Night Stand’ into a deep and synthetic disco bomb that will have dance-floors in
raptures. Elsewhere, Idjut Boys, Ray Mang, Leo Zero, Johnson Somerset offer more expert reworks.
Ambient Pioneer Ulrich Schnauss has the coveted task of adapting ‘Johnny & Mary’, Ferry’s timeless collaboration with Norwegian man of the moment Todd Terje.
Hidden Orchestra layer grand instrumentals and sweeping strings into a dramatic and theatrical
remix of ‘Send in the Clowns.’ Leftside Wobble is then left to bring us back down to earth with an
intoxicating brew of molten synths, woozy chords and smeared pads that sooth mind, body and
soul.

The rich source material here, along with the wealth of stars chosen to remix it, all make for
another fascinating chapter in the life of one of the UK’s most cherished artists.

Andrea Benini (born March 14, 1977), also known as Mop Mop is a musician, music producer and composer from , Cesena, Italy. He has worked in jazz, funk and club music.

Benini began playing guitar at age 10 and he started playing drums at age 14. At the end of 1999, Benini moved to Bologna and he attended the “Discipline dell Arti, della Musica e dell Spettacolo” (DAMS), pursuing the study of African-American music and Contemporary music.

From 2000 to 2003 Benini worked as journalist for the Italian magazine “Percussioni” interviewing musicians like Joey Baron, John Riley, Terry Clarke just to name a few.

As of 2005, his current project is Mop Mop, a funk/afro/jazz mix including musicians Alex Trebo on piano, Pasquale Mirra on vibraphone, Guglielmo Pagnozzi on sax, Bruno Briscik on bass and Danilo Mineo on percussions. Mop Mop debut album “The 11th Pill” was released by Tam Tam Studio in 2005 and later re-released by P-Vine Records for the Japanese market. The first single ”Perfect Day Feat. Jackson Sloan” was released by Dejavu Records in 2006 with a remix of Schema Records artist Gerardo Frisina.

In 2007 “Perfect Day” was selected by Adrian Gibson for “Messin Around 5”, the London Jazz Cafe compilation featuring artists like Nostalgia 77, Mark Murphy, Sleepwalker, Soul Jazz Orchestra just to name a few.

In 2008 Benini has produced Mop Mop’s second album entitled “Kiss oF Kali”, released by the German label Infracom Records in 2009. The album features Down Beat Critics Poll winner Gianluca Petrella on trombone and Alan Farrington on vocals. Infracom Records released Mop Mop’s third album “Ritual Of The Savage” in 2010. The album includes the UK’s singer Baby Sol ( backing vocaling for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Nate James ).

In 2012 Mop Mop achieve the international film business as part of Woody Allen‘s “To Rome With Love” soundtrack with the song ” Three Times Bossa “, composed by Andrea Benini/Alex Trebo and produced by Tam Tam Studio.

Mop Mop music is released by labels like Sony/BMG, Universal, Wagram, Infracom, Freestyle, P-Vine, Rambling and supported by DJs like Gilles Peterson, Toshio Matsuura, Michael Ruetten, Pete Isaac, Simon Harrison just to name a few.
During the last years he has performed in Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Turky, United Kingdom, United States, Russian Federation, appearing in clubs, jazz clubs, theatres, festivals, national radio and television.

Benini has produced three albums and several singles for Mop Mop project and remixed artists like [re:jazz], Bajka, Jazzinvaders, Bahama Soul Club, Valique, Rime.

Benini is actually living and producing his new works in Berlin. His fourth studio album which includes funk legend Fred Wesley on trombone and British poet Anthony Joseph on vocals, is to be released in 2012.

Daje Funk have been continuing their quest to re-invent funk for the modern dance-floor with some seriously outstanding quickfire releases. Their recent editions featuring some of the edit scenes stand-out artists including De Gama, Les Inferno, DJ Rocca and The Funk District are must haves.

Next in line for the Daje Funk release treatment is their Cutz Vol. 1, their first three track EP. It features one of the hottest breakthrough names on the scene in several years Monsieur Van Pratt alongside Pina Edit’s heads Matalo! and Paul Older who puts in another star appearance. It’s another 10” which any self respecting selector will need to add to their collection of modern funk re-imaginings.

First up is Monsieur Van Pratt with Feeling Funky. If ever there was a track name which summed up a track then that was it. Huge brass stabs underpinned by funk fueled wah guitar make way for an outstanding diva soul vocal. It’s a track which ebbs and flows perfectly building up to a stand out piano solo. This is unashamed dance-floor gold from a producer who will be one of the leading lights for some years to come of the strength of his recent releases.

Next up is the carnival boogie of Matalo!’s Jito. You can feel and taste the energy dripping off this track as it dances around you decorating you with coulourful necklaces and filling your pockets with doubloons. It’s a track which elicits radiant colours and warmth.

Closing the EP out is the ever reliable Paul Older who has been behind some serious dance-floor gems over the last 12 months. Here he delves into some deep soul infused funk with Faces. Right from the first bass notes this is a track which it is impossible not to dance to. Building a hypnotic groove it soon works its way towards a fierce vocal. Cue dance-floor scenes galore.

Cutz Vol. 1 is another sure fire club smash of an EP!
