In his 1995 interview, Dr. Volberding talks about his path from small-town Minnesota to cutting-edge AIDS medicine in San Francisco, and the personalities and politics he encountered in his work. An interview with Dr. Gerald Friedland, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at Yale School of Medicine and the Yale School of Public Health. In his original 1995 interview, Dr. Friedland talks about his background in medicine in Nigeria and Boston, and his work treating IV drug users with HIV in the Bronx, as well as about the epidemiology of AIDS. In the follow-up interview, we'll talk with Dr. Friedland about his practice since 1995, changes in the epidemiology of the disease, and AIDS on an international scale.
