As we venture towards the heart of summer’s conclusion, we are ecstatic to release one of the label’s favorite projects to date.

Mitch Oliver and Maaruo represent the thriving community of dance music in Montreal; a city also home to the When We Dip team, and a pillar of the creative direction behind the way we run the labels and media platform. As many have before them, the two were regulars on dancefloors across the city before moving into the studio and harnessing their love of electronic music as creators.

Each of the producers have made important strides in the early days of their solo careers, including Mitch’s EP on Magician on Duty and Maaruo’s remix of Budakid right here on XYZ. They’ve also found a distinct knack for partnership, as is evident in their joint track Corne Mistur which was released with Akbal Music.

Same Light will surely continue to turn heads and capture ears for the two Montrealers. It has that something special, an indescribable quality found in the tunes we love the most, no matter the genre. The all-Quebecois team for Same Light includes Beyries, one of the province's most beloved singer-songwriters. Her jaw dropping vocals glide naturally over the crisp arrangement from Mitch and Maaruo, harnessing melancholic prose of somber romance. Instrumentally, percussive flair and fluttering pads carry the words in perfect harmony; A tune that will write it’s own story. 

Hernan Cattaneo needs no introduction, as he’s a masterful figure within melodic music. A massive inspiration for Maaruo and Mitch, it’s an honor to have him a part of the project as he remixes Same Light with his comrade Martin Garcia. Cattaneo and Garcia lengthen the arrangement, bringing progressive and club-driven tones to the sultry vocals. A masterpiece from the maestro for late night affairs.

A "Lost Planet" beckons as Hannes Wiehager and Chaum answer the call. Powerful emotion rises over Scandinavia travelling to the cradle of Western civilisation where driving rhythms and haunting vocals capture a powerful mood. Twinkling arpeggios and powerful bassline hit their mark, rising through a clear blue sky into the stratosphere.

A sinister edge pervades across a new world of sound. Acetylene torch leads cut through a powerful rhythmic force. Anakim provides a new vision from the city of angels that criss-crosses the audible spectrum in glittering sonic shards. German power is harnessed via the currents of melody that flow down the Rhine. Th;en provides the discovery of 'a lost planet' that finds its origins in familiar vocal refrains. Harmonic chords like slivers of ice showcase a new sonic architecture before the sultry rhythms of Aman Anand provide oriental flavours to a European world. Rhythmic complexity grows in new patterns of vocal phrases as bassline dominance creates a thundering force that emanates from another lost planet.

Jordan Gill makes his first appearance with Awen Records delivering his 3 track 'Cataclysmic' EP. All originals consist of Jordan's dark and heavy progressive style with a touch of melodic techno. UCHA reemerges in harmony with a squadron of remixers, sending a wave of deepness and darkness through the universe.

Harmoniese is an atmospheric nuclear warhead with layers of darkness and light clashing euphoniously. Antagonistic vocals meet tribal and electronic elements, forming an almost cineastic journey.
Dario Dea emphasizes the yin-yang spirit of the tune even more by embracing a synth-driven retro-esque world. 
Raphael Mader then turns the focus on portraying an uplifting, airy, and introspective view.
