Historically, modern anti-semitism has been used by elites to confuse, divide and re-direct social anger towards marginalized populations. Jewish people, owing to their concentration in larger cities and their association in the previous century with the working class, made them the preferred targets of capitalists. 

Kanye has built his persona as being an arrogant, entitled and delusional narcissist. His latest explosive comments only cement the fact that the deluding powers of wealth and money have created an extremely disoriented and self-indulgent social layer. In music, which in the best times has been associated with the most progressive ideas, has become unhinged along with the rest of capitalist society due to the corruption that wealth brings. Kanye might be an especially rotten example of this tendency. But he's not alone and he associates himself with many who support his views.
