The Ivory Knives are a Geo Rock duo consisting of Timmy Nanks (guitar and vocals) and Jake McPherson (percussion). Both members reside in Bendigo, Victoria playing some covers but predominantly originals. Their sound is best described as reminiscent of The Arctic Monkeys. Some of the band’s influences include: The Strokes, The Vines, The Arctic Monkeys, The Killers and Death Cab For Cutie.

Currently…

The band has just released their limited edition self-titled debut EP, successfully launched in late June 2014. The band is currently branching out, claiming more local shows in more venues and plans to invade Melbourne’s live music scene very soon. They are always hungry for more opportunities to show audiences exactly what they can do whilst having a bloody good time doing it. 

Background

Timmy and Jake knew each other for over a year before discovering that, Timmy was looking for a drummer and Jake was on the hunt for a guitarist/singer. Since then they built their skills and distilled their sound muffled by bedroom doors. The band eventually released their music to local audiences in early 2013 with a promising reception. “Their sound is completely individual and their songs hook you in with their catchy riffs and complex arrangements” -Natalie Edith, On the Road Productions.
